You don't even have to call. Go to their website and type in your radio id or vin # and the 6/$30 will be offered.

Thanks.

I just went online and got 2 months for free. Didn't have to give my CC or anything (and if they have an old one on file it has been cancelled, so they aren't going to be able to charge me after two months). I'll work on the 6 months for $30 in March.

I only listen to radio is when I'm in the car. Even so, there is nothing on radio that is worth paying for.

I live in Big 12 country and if I want sports talk that isn't Thunder, Sooners, Cowboys, or, Okie Lite then it's a must, I listen the the college sports talk station all the time. It's also nice when on road trips not having to play the game where you lose one station and have to find another.

I've said this in previous threads. Here is the recipe for permanent Satellite radio.

Step 1. Buy old Sirius radio (I've used the Sportster multiple times) Amazon, thrift store....where ever.

Step 2. Start very short term subscription. Pay by check. Get every channel.

Step 3. Throw unit in the closet after making sure its activated. Don't plug it in again.

Step 4. Cancel subscription asap.

Step 5. Take head unit out of closet after about 6 months.

It should still be the case, but they didn't attempt to send a kill signal when you cancel your subscription after 2 or 3 months. So, once activated, its on for life. It updates without issue.

I have two full channel head units that have been functional since 2007. I purchased a third from Amazon awhile back....and it was already on. Not a bad $40.

Regarding automatic renewals on credit card...

At the end of your negotiation with Sirius, tell them that you want a paper bill, so that you can pay via check. There's like a $2 fee, but you don't have to worry about the automatic renewal at the regular rate, and putting yourself into a worse negotiating position in 6 months from now. The best part is, when you get your bill, pay on the website via credit card, just don't let the website save your info.

Watch out for the automatic renewal when doing the $25 for 5 month deal. They'll automatically roll you over to $20/month and even if your credit/debit card on the account has expired they'll still run your service for another month or two without any notification at all then come after you for the $20-40 bucks of back payment

I canceled when they did that. I'm not even remotely interested in renewing either. Weird part is that I called to cancel months before. I could not cancel online at the time....but they still renewed service. So I had to call again and I made sure the radio was deactivated before I hung up.

They've since called and offered a free service for several months if I renew, but I told them that I want nothing to do with it.

I have very low tolerance for Comcastesque billing practices. Really pointless since I use Spotify and Pandora now.

But then you don't get a sweet story about standing your ground to a random sales rep and can't brag to internet strangers

Got my subscription about 10 years ago. Went ahead and paid the $500 lifetime subscription fee back then, before the XM merger, when it was just Sirius. Best decision I ever made. Online and apps are included in the coverage. The only downside is only one person can use the app at a time. Which really hasn't been an issue.

I've got to attempt the six month song and dance by the end of the month. Subscription is ending since last "cancellation."

I expected a bill like I got at the end of the promotion but no bill. I guess they don't want me to see the massive increase.

I tried to get the 6mo/$30 deal a few years ago and they actually canceled me w/o offering the deal. So I just went back to listening to FM.

yep. I set a reminder in my phone 6 months out to call them and pull this trick twice a year. Works like a charm every time.

Just finished the call.

Called and said I didn't use it enough to justify the cost.

They had a great deal for me to save money. Yearly subscription. But is was higher. Almost $100.

Pushed them a little more and said nope. Didn't use it enough, then magically he "optimized" his system and found the same deal I had before. $34 for 6 months.

What does that mean? You can't transfer it to your new radio?

I would wait for her current subscription to expire (or within a week or so of the expiration date)
