I had someone tell me who used to work in the restaurant business that many of these workers probably decided to make a career change after they were sent home during the pandemic...
The thought process is "if they can shut it down once they can do it again "
Most people didn't like being in the position of not pay their bills...
Best explanation I've heard yet
The bloom in work from home type jobs just killed restaurants and low wage retail employees. Nobody wants to deal with general public a-hole types if there's another way to make rent.

The great thing about capitalism is the ability for someone to jump in when there is a market opportunity. Either something is really wrong or capitalism is misfiring.
Do you believe thats supposed to be instant?

There's a naive belief that capitalism is some kind of easy button that can just fix anything immediately. There's an equally naive belief that our economy isn't infected from top to bottom with crony capitalism.
And Sheep outlined supply chain problems on page 2. Most people, including professionals whose livelihoods depend on how well it function, have little to no understanding of how complex and frail supply chains are. They only know somethings wrong when the shite they need isn't there.

Not aware of any company that makes food, gas, diesel, paint... whatever... 1-2 years in advance.
We supply coatings (paints) and EVERY paint manufacture here in the US gets several raw materials that comes from overseas. Nobody keeps 2 years worth of inventory on hand. That isn’t how a business runs. China is your #1 reason for all of these shortages.

It’s ironic that large corporations are currently totaling record profit margins due to the supply - demand issue. Look at dealerships. People are in line to pay whatever MSRP is claimed to be! It’s insane.
The irony is that the working man is being crushed by an administration that campaigned on the EXACT OPPOSITE LOGIC. So clear now that millions of working class Americans were duped.

Thanks, Trump.
Progressives lie, its what you do best. Trump signed some shitty spending bills and there's no denying that, but to put this 100% on him puts your IQ in single digits.

Which is what we will have instead of straight socialism.

Most of our goods are made in China. We have little control over the supply chain.

The government handing out checks to people for nothing is the exact opposite of capitalism. Blaming capitalism for our current issues is like blaming virginity for your STD.

We need import tariffs.
You can’t use slave labor in a third world country to build an inferior knockoff product and sell it in the American market cheaper than it’s possible to produce in America. That is absolutely not a sustainable economy for a country.

You’ve lost a lot of blue collar workers in transportation that are responsible for getting products- both components and finished products- to the customers. Not just truckers, but ships too. And our government is paying many of them not to come back to work in this country. It’s A legit problem caused by nefarious players for dubious reasons.

Exactly - the oil companies are recording record profits. The inflated prices are intentional, not necessary. Buy those electric vehicles - just don’t charge them because we need to conserve electricity.

I’m not trying to be a jerk here but my state, Florida isn’t really having these issues like seem to be going on elsewhere. It’s probably because we said frick this and refused to go along with most of the hysteria.
We’re thriving in Florida like nothing I’ve ever seen before.
All I can say is that next time you vote in a local or state election, pick the candidate whose most like our governor.

It’s been almost 2 years since businesses were forced to close. And most people that worked in important sectors never shut down at all.
Why are shortages being blamed on COVID almost 2 years later?
There is a contrast shortage that is specific to a factory in Shanghai that was shut down recently as a result of China's zero covid policies. Thats all I got.
