I don’t believe any of these numbers in the slightest. They are throwing out WW1 era numbers on troop levels and casualties which would be impossible to hide in this era of technology. There is no military in the World including the US and China that could field equipped units of soldiers in the numbers they are claiming. Amassing 50k troops on any battlefield in this era would be foolish and setting yourself up for massive losses.

Ok. I agree with you here. But come on.. Russia has been toying with Ukraine. They could have ended this a long long time ago. This is just Putin and his ego maximizing death and destruction. He is an out of control madman.

Yeah if they nuked the place. Russia has taken insane losses and had to reduce every city or village to rubble to force the Ukrainians out. But, yeah, that was the strategy: have hundreds of thousands of casualties in a war that's pushed past 3 years when they were a few km from the Capitol in a few days. Amazing military minds over there in the east...

I couldn’t care less who wins just commenting on the sheer stupidity of these numbers. I have seen claims of 200-300k dead which is comical. That’s approaching how many soldiers we lost during WW2 when we were fielding at times 2 million soldiers in both arenas of combat. Neither one of those militaries could come close to fielding 2 million soldiers in theatre and that was with 10-12 million in reserve

He didn't expect Europe to exceed US giving either, a total of 35 countries have given military aid.
It really isn't that the Kremlin didn't expect support from the West they didn't expect there to be time for the aid to arrive.
The problem was the initial invasion plan. While it was bold they completely failed to provide adequate air power which left the northern para assault to fail, and the same with the south eastern land assault. Further, regarding the land assault, they didn't anticipate how backed up it would get when only using one major axis of advance. It turned into a shooting gallery. A failure even a US Lieutenant in the combat arms would likely not have made. The failure to take Kyiv in the first few days led to this fiasco.
