International first class is better than how probably 90% of this planet lives on a daily basis.

If you lived somewhere on the east coast with AA flights overseas to Europe you could do long weekend trips all the time. No way that was a great idea.

Back in the 80s/90s, I imaigne they had a lot more open 1st class seats so these guys were not stealing a revenue generating seat

When these tickets sold, airlines were not nearly as good at booking every seat + frequent flyer miles and the upgrade program were fledgling and not well run

True. Especially on foreign carriers like Cathay, etc

So, who has done the math? How many flights before the airline starts to lose? 250?

$250k for the lifetime deal. What? Let's say an international trip.. $3k.. That's what? 80 something trips... roughly.

I am not sure how accurate $3k is...

Flew Ethiopian business class last month and if probably say the same about it.

I mean, you get fed constantly, booze, bathroom, a bed, etc. Some of that list people don't have any given day.

Vroom's last name just seems right for unlimited first class travel.

IYAM he's basically a slacker who married money. One of his kids was a marketing guy for MTV and was in part responsible for the plague of trashy reality shows.

They probably didn’t offer many more than that.

A round-trip flight in economy class leaving tomorrow from New York to London is about $4k.

Didn't they need to raise $7M for something?

It sounds like they targeted a few people, but they were available until 1994. It doesn't seem like they were invitation only.

Rothstein accumulated over 40 million frequent flyer miles. That's awesome.

Yea, that could add up quickly. Huntsville to Hong Kong $20,000.00.

Especially in the home country of the airline. Kinda sad when you think about it.

Now I have another reason to try to avoid flying on AA.

I don't mind flying at all, but I don't think I will be taking the Huntsville to Hong Kong trip anytime soon.
