I don’t think saving $4.00 is going to make that much of a difference in my decision to buy that ticket.

Cheaper if you live in civilization.

American and other airlines still offer one fee "Around the World" tickets. They are typically good for a year, and allow you to travel around the world flying unlimited legs to any place the airlines service with some limitations such as you usually cannot backtrack. Typical fee is around $3500.00 and are bought by people that want to do a "bucket list" type trip and see as much of the world as possible in a year.

Surprised there’s a Huntsville to Hong Kong direct flight.
Aerospace business people I assume?

All of those flights have at least 1 stop.

You're right. Houston is cheaper still.

I just had to fire my travel agent, because of you. You feel good?
Posted on 4/12/18 at 7:58 pm to ThatMakesSense
Yes. Give me her info so I can hire and then fire her.

I have a similar privilege - I can fly on an employee pass, unlimited, free and any class provided there is a seat available.
But I only take about 5 or 6 trips a year. Should probably do more but I have a job, life, responsibilities. etc that keep me home. Plus dealing with the hassle of getting and expense of getting to and from airports can get old. Flying to Paris free for a long weekend isn't as romantic as it sounds once you've spent a total of 16 hours in an airplane.
The guy who took 10,000 flights in 25 years is either a total aspie or he was selling his tickets in a pre-911 world when you just walked up to the gate and handed over a printed ticket. In the article he actually confessed to this but said the "deal" didn't expressly forbid it. I suppose his $200/hr lawyer lost that argument in court against a team of AA's corporate counsel and white shoe partners.

I mean you still have to deal with security and what not. If you were really a baller a private jet crushes this.
I'm curious who determined that $250k in early 80s is worth $580k today? Lol, because however they did their math is terrible. That pass would go for millions. Probably like $10 mil.
First class from the USA to Europe is like $10,000 or more round trip usually.
I'm curious though, what someone today may actually pay for this pass? Again you have to assume inflation, investing the money, and that many would likely prefer a private jet as they don't have to leave from an international airport.

Think it's just a straight inflation extrapolation. I'm a poet

It’s just inflation in real dollars, but compared to how airline prices have also increased, you are correct.
