I mean except space, and money and distance make that impossible right now.
We haven't stepped foot on Mars, so I disagree with that.

Someone needs to colonize the ocean floor.
OP - if you feel that way personally go out and become a world traveler.

Wrong. We know more about space than we do our own oceans.
Well, that's not true. We hadn't confirmed exoplanets until like 20 years ago. Granted we haven't mapped out 97% of the ocean floor, but we have a much better idea what is down there than we would upon arriving on an exoplanet. The universe is massive, and there's tons we don't know.

The world is now small. There are no more unknown places. No foreign lands to be discovered. No mysterious wilderness to be settled by brave and hearty people. No natural resources to be exploited, or fortunes to be made, or indigenous populations to be slaughtered. You can't just hop on a ship seeking a new life.
I too think a major cause of unhappiness is the lack of a feeling of purpose for being.

The problem with the modern world is that there are too many people on this planet.

This is such a cliche...and so obviously not true.

As of 2015 there were still areas on earth for which there was no accurate map.

There are hundreds of mountains that have never been climbed or explored.

There are vast underground caverns and caves all over the world that have never been explored and likely many more will be discovered.

Try taking a backpacking trip for a few days through some real wilderness places and see if you still feel the same. I have quite a few places on my bucket list that I'd like to explore for myself instead of just seeing it online or on TV
