We haven't stepped foot on Mars, so I disagree with that.

Someone needs to colonize the ocean floor.

OP - if you feel that way personally go out and become a world traveler.

Wrong. We know more about space than we do our own oceans.

Well, that's not true. We hadn't confirmed exoplanets until like 20 years ago. Granted we haven't mapped out 97% of the ocean floor, but we have a much better idea what is down there than we would upon arriving on an exoplanet. The universe is massive, and there's tons we don't know.

I too think a major cause of unhappiness is the lack of a feeling of purpose for being.

As of 2015 there were still areas on earth for which there was no accurate map.

There are many areas on earth that have to date had little exploration here are 10

There are hundreds of mountains that have never been climbed or explored.
LINK

There are vast underground caverns and caves all over the world that have never been explored and likely many more will be discovered.

Try taking a backpacking trip for a few days through some real wilderness places and see if you still feel the same. I have quite a few places on my bucket list that I'd like to explore for myself instead of just seeing it online or on TV
