My family has many adopted children. Some celebrate "gotcha" days each year in addition to their birthday. Some had children's books read to them about adoption. It was talked about before they were old enough to understand. So basically they never did not know, it just made more sense and they asked more questions as they got older. All are very stable now as adults. Only one has found her birth family and that experience was positive.

oh yea, she definitely resembles me. My mom was quite taken back by it all. Identical.

Just FYI that a male/female set of twins cannot be identical. If she is your twin sister, you're fraternal twins. Best of luck.

My wife was adopted and I helped her find her biological parents.

I think in the end she ended up being much more secure with herself than she was before. Her life would have been a train wreck had she not been adopted. Her adoptive parents are truly loving and wonderful people who gave her a very happy childhood.

There will probably be some good things as well as some bad, you just have to take it all in stride as you learn more about where you came from.

Like her, I am sure you are overwhelmed with alot of emotions. Those will begin to settle as you learn more.

Congratulations, I hope this process makes you as happy and complete as it made my wife.

I'm pretty sure twins split at birth is like the holy grail for them (although there is already a fair amount out there about it). You might be interested in the results too.

I hope it works out for the best OP.

Just curious, how did she find you when you ran into dead ends?

Eta: did your mom know you had a twin?

It’s kind of sad to me that they’d split up twins vs having them adopted together.

When a family decides to adopt and goes through the process, do they know the mother before the baby is born?

In other words, if a mother, who decided to give her child up for adoption, then learns she is having twins, is that information the family who is looking to adopt is made aware of?

that's gotta be one of the craziest things you could experience. on one hand, you've got this new person who is a part of you and you're excited to know everything about them and share experiences. on the other, you missed out on so much of each others' lives.
