The past has caught up to me. (updated 10/10/18)

All of my life, I’ve always known that I’d been adopted by my parents, that’s a secret that was never kept from me. 10 years or so ago with very little info to go by, I made an attempt to find out about my bio parents only to run into a major issue and the issue came in the form of sealed adoptive records. A friend of mine that worked for a lawyer at that time told me that since I didn’t have any medical concerns, opening the sealed records would most likely be denied by a judge. I pretty much gave up after that.
That all changed yesterday afternoon when I got a call from my mom, a woman claiming to be my twin sister showed up at her house looking for me. I contacted the woman and she wants me to take a DNA test to verify that I am her brother. At first I thought this might be some kind of scam, but she convinced me by telling me about her adoptive mom who was a nurse at the hospital at the time of my birth (long story). Anyway, I’m going to take the test today and we’ll see what happens.
Update: 10/10/18
Just got off the phone with the lab and from what the nice lady on the phone told me, we’re a match.
Combined Sibship Index (Full-Sibling): 995.75. Probability of relatedness as full siblings = 99.8%.
I’m not ashamed to say, I almost broke down, it was very difficult for me to control my emotions. Before I could do anything my mom called me to see if I found out anything and when I told her she also got very emotional. Who would’ve thought that something like this would happen after all these years.

Usually the past catching up to you refers to something bad, like you have to go to jail or something. In this case it seems like you may have a twin sister(pics?), which doesn’t seem that bad.

Good to hear man. It's always tough wondering about this kind of important stuff in life.
Get your DNA test and ask HER for hers to compare. And how all of a sudden did she contact you? That seems strange. Ask her for pics to see how you resemble one another.
And if she's cute, then ask for more.

Wow. I hope things go well for you. I am a big proponent of adoption and have a niece and nephew who are adopted.
Good luck.
If you ever want to see a great short film about adoption I suggest - I Lived on Parker Avenue - 30 minutes of beauty

Did you bang your sister before you knew she was your sister?

That is wild. It’s kind of sad to me that they’d split up twins vs having them adopted together. Keep us posted.

Why are you being asked to take a DNA test to verify you are her brother?

Embrace it. I know people who have gone through this and it's been a positive in their lives.
