many of them being in the late 80s and sooner is a surprise to me

Closed breweries.
Lots existed in neighborhoods or New Orleans but were forced out by larger breweries.

I’ve been to the Schell’s Bockfest in MN
It’s a great time in freezing cold.

Then in the '90s they exploded.

If DIXIE wouldn’t have changed their name, they may have this record

us boomers are loyal to brands unlike you millenials who drink whatever beer has the most grapefruit in it that week
we had a good thing going until you millenials ruined our favorite beer with your new "tranny" fad same as y'all ruined the economy and the climate

I guess a lot of local or regional breweries were shutting down in the 70’s and 80’s.
Like in Texas, Shiner isn’t just the oldest, it’s the only one left from the pre-microbrew days.

Anchor did close but another local Brewery is trying to buy their assets.
Sapporo owns it. Someone will buy the brand and maybe some of the packaging equipment. But it will never operate again at that site (Union shop + San Fran), and the brew house will be scrapped.

Falstaff, Jax, and Dixie all had breweries in NOLA in 70s.

This was also originally a brewery:
There were several others in town too.

I believe we'll stick to our bourbon distilleries here in Kentucky.
