I do turnaround work in plants, so we hire in hundreds of people at a time.
It is the worst pool of people I have seen in my career currently working
Can’t follow simple instructions. Just don’t care if you fire them or not. No drive.

By nature of my location, I meet quite a lot of monied folks...and I mean absurdly loaded. They're certainly smarter than your average person, most of the time, but not to the degree that you'd expect given the wealth disparity. Luck and stubbornness go a lot further than general intelligence.

My son tells me this all the time, and he’s still in his 20’s. Based on the things he tells me, it’s a wonder that there aren’t deaths on a daily basis with the work they do.

I started out my current career as a pipefitter. I didnt have a twic card when I started so the first plant I was in was where contractors stuck their felon hands. It took two days of work for me to start applying to colleges. I'm high enough up the ladder now to where I only have to deal with those types a few times a year when I'm trying to get ahold of a surplus material list or something. It was way more stressful than I expected to work around guys who seemed like they were trying to kill the whole crew.
