Also, air dried towels come out stiff as hell.

Does Speed Queen make a washer basket size larger than 3.2?

I can't find one that does. 3.2 is small for me, would take me twice as many loads to wash.

My three neanderthal Speed Queen sets that I got seven years ago (thanks Napoleon!) still eat all kinds of hot water and energy and RELIABLY clean the frick out of clothing.

Zero down time with any of the six individual machines yet.

frick these Energy Star sky screamers, I’ll milk my SQs to my mortal finish line.

yep!! A coupled of weeks ago the dryer was broken, so i hung out some wash on the line - and within 10 minutes some sort of bug laid a bunch of eggs on some of the clothes

But I use the line mostly for our swimsuits

I junked my Whirlpool high efficiency agitator-less washer because it kept wearing down the plastic gears that would spin the tub. Replaced it with a no frills Kenmore washer with an agitator.

We finally broke down and bought a Speed Queen less than a year ago. We thought, no way could a washer be worth the money. Well folks, it is worth every penny and more. Zero frills...super clean clothes...a fraction of the time as that stupid HE washer.

Same here and same result. Once this dryer craps out, we will get the matching model dryer for replacement.

using 28 percent less water

THIS is total bullshite. Fact: The more water you can use, the cleaner you can get your clothes.

Besides, older washers and gas dryers are some of the simplest, easiest things to fix/repair……..that is, as long as the parts are still available.

Do you hear that cheering? It’s law students around the country celebrating the fact that they probably don’t have to learn admin law anymore

If we see a 40% reduction in energy but it takes me 60% longer to dry my clothes are we really saving energy?

This. I'll just run that fricker three times per load. I'll just get a smart one and setup an Alexa routine to just restart it every 45 minutes automatically.
