The latest thing previous generations could handle that Generation Z can't: dorm bunk beds

A whistleblower has lodged a formal complaint with the U.S. Government over the safety of the bunk beds at San Diego State University (SDSU) following the death of a 19-year-old freshman on November 7.
Dylan Hernandez died from blunt force trauma to the head after falling from the top of his bunk, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner.
The complaint - obtained by NBC 7 Investigates - was sent to the Consumer Protection Safety Commission on November 18 from an anonymous parent of an SDSU student and former alumni.
The parent says the university, in response to a housing shortage, is cramming students into small rooms and using unsafe bunk beds to fit more students in a dorm.

Hmmm, I guess personal accountability for one's actions is out the window now. Did the bed break or did he just fall out of it?

19 years old you think they might have outgrown the need for bed rails.

Gen Z doesn't know which bathroom to use.

The term “Whistleblower” is being thrown around way to frequently these days.

The gov better defend against this or the Navy is out of business.

Lol. My roommate came back to the dorm blackout drunk every night and climbed up the side of the bunk bed. To this day I have no idea how he didn’t seriously injure himself.

Doesn't the Navy sleep two to a bed anyway?

unless SDSU has real bunk beds, which I highly doubt, the beds can be moved down in height. Not the schools problem

Not gonna lie...this has always been one of those weird fears of mine whenever I've slept in bunk beds.

Gen Z blames gravity for being gravity.

I guess colleges need to put up those little guard rails on the beds like you do for a 3 year old

Eating sand creates the equilibrium necessary to safely handle the top bunk.

This is why you don't go to college.

My freshman year I “lofted” my bed on top of my desk and dresser. So when you sit at your desk working your bed is like a roof above you. And I also had the bed frame bracket on the highest brackets. So when I was sleeping I was like 10 feet in the air. And there was no ladder to get into bed I had to just scale the foot of the bed frame. And the surfaces of the desk and dresser were that shitty slippery fake wood coated in plastic. I remember I got home one weekend night drunk as shite. And I tried to get my leg into bed to swing my body in after getting to the top of the frame and the entire bed slipped off and I fell to the tile floor with the bed landing on top of me. Miraculously I was not hurt.
Had another friend who fell out of his bed and hit his face square on the corner of his dresser. Broke his maxilla. Another inch to the top the corner of the dresser would’ve been square in his eye and it would’ve definitely destroyed his eyeball.
Good times.
