Considering how white Lee and BRMHS are, it means the other non-Woodlawn schools must be about 95% black.

Don't forget that bunch of 'carpetbaggers' at the council on aging...lol Any 'free' cruises been doled out lately ?

Why the frick can't Adam Smith have the shite? I mean really? Who cares. This school system is a fricking joke anyway and there is absolutely no way anyone can fix it. Not Smith, not this Indian woman, not Socrates, Confucuius, Einstein...nobody
Adam Smith will fail just like everyone before him and everyone after him. But if this is who they want, give it to them and let's move the frick on.
Have fun.

I agree in principle with almost all of this. But the problem with Smith is that obviously the ones who reallllly want him are the ones who are very comfortable in whatever positions they currently have and don't want to be challenged.
This system needs someone to come in and shake the foundation, cut the dead weight, and make people get off their fat asses and work for real change.
Buy yeah, it honestly will never matter until some parents get their shite together and raise their kids right.

equitable outcomes
This is a fallacy spewed by liberals. Equitable outcomes do not exist because the effort to reach those outcomes aren’t equal.

Woodlawn High is less than 20% white. (Their Latino pop has grown significantly.) Liberty (used to be Lee) is about 15% white. BRMHS is about 1/3 of each, white, black, and (mostly) Asian.
The only schools in the district that are majority white Mayfair Lab and a couple of elementary schools.

Motion to extend the meeting beyond 10:30.

I'm baffled that our local 'investigatory media' NEVER seems to do ANY real background research...i.e. give us the financial overview of the EBRP school budget, how many millions are being spent in what areas, exactly where this 'funding' comes from, performance reviews from the past 10-20 years vs. where the system stands today. How far/if at all has the system fallen since judge parker decided to unilaterally alter EVERYTHING ! Is there ANY wonder as to why the St. George folks so desperately want to exit said 'system' ! Bring back at least some modicum of accountability/responsibility !

They’re moving the Superintendent vote/discussion to Wednesday, July 24.
State law says an interim superintendent can only serve 6 months. So the deadline to select is Tuesday, July 23. The counsel told the board they’d be in violation of state law by not selecting a Superintendent by 7/23, they still went on to move the meeting to Wednesday since all board members aren’t available Tuesday.
They were about to move forward until Lanus stepped up with some frickin sense and said they’d look retarded if they were in violation of state law. He asked if Adam Smith could be extended interim superintendent for 30 days. Counsel said yes but that essentially would make Smith the superintendent for 30 days.
Now they’re trying to figure out if it should be 30 days or 60 days.
You. Can’t. Make. This. shite. Up.
ETA: If they make Smith the superintendent until they decide what to do, and then choose another candidate, they would have to give Smith a 90 day notice. So essentially they need another 90 days

Smith is going to get the job and continue to fail the students

and that's when the excuses will begin and St. George will be blamed for their shortcomings

If the board folds, they will never control the district again.

That makes more sense. I saw a picture from there recently and there wasn’t a single white kid in it.

Anybody know what was decided? I turned it off & fell asleep about 12:30 and it was still going on. They were asking to appoint Smith for a one year term while they start the search over.

equitable outcomes for the city’s children
It is IMPOSSIBLE to guarantee equitable outcomes. The phrase should be equitable opportunity.
What people do with that opportunity is entirely up to them. This is why Dimocrats ALWAYS fail.

It would be utterly hilarious if the state took over the district. Not sure it’s even possible but Landry making a move like this would make heads explode all over NBR. It would be worth it just for the theatre.

It appears there are several board members purposely wanting this school system to fall even lower than it is. What exactly does the couple of board members not wanting Smith want? It seems like they want to completely dismantle ebr schools and hand control over to charters.

Watching this encapsulates everything wrong with Louisiana, serving as a stark warning to all. As a white Republican, I believe the white members of this Board are at fault. It's not about race, but about money and the dangerous influence of big business in government. Their unwillingness to listen or make temporary compromises to stay in legal compliance and appease the community that elected them due to a political funding entity is glaringly obvious. They prefer to violate state law rather than implement even a temporary fix. The Board President was correct, this is a shitshow.
