Billy Dubois! Legendary. He used to borrow cars and spy on us from across the street. We had a blast working there in high school…Florida and Sherwood location…traded ice cream for Rally’s a bunch of times.

Plugs we called him. He treated me fine though. When he got the LSU location he sent me and a few others to clean that place up. It was disgusting. I stayed there but I was a freshmen at LSU and seeing hot, coeds from my classes was a no go. I quit. Hard to be cool in brown polyester pants and orange/pink striped shirts.
ETA. I felt like Brad at All American Burger.

There was an Eckert's drug store there and the manager was the drummer from the band The Times. Always thought that he had great talent.
The first time that I saw him there I just said, "I wanna go to London" and he started laughing. He kept grinning through the conversation, but kept his voice down, so I guess the rest of the people were not aware of his rocker past.

My mom would drop me off at the Broadmoor and I would spend the entire day and evening watching movie after movie all day there. Might take a break at the Flea Market next door.

Yep. In fact, learned Elvis had died when we were leaving a movie. Was a kid so no affect on me, but I remember. Baton Rouge was better back then.

Remember it well. Grew up in Villa Del Rey in the 60s & 70s. Saw most of the Bond movies in that theater. Wesleys was in the corner, and Johnny Pomares started cutting hair there next-door. He gave me my first haircut there when I was 4 in '67. Every now and then I'd see Mr Gordon who owned the theater, I think. IH Rubensteins was close by. I also remember when it was one big theater then later they split it into two. Tickets then were like $1.50. Lots of good times and memories!

I always marveled at the fact that there was a glassed-in smoking area at the back of the theater. No door to keep the smoke out of the rest of the place, but you could light up there.

Me too. I learned later on that she was actually a very nice lady. She had to deal with the general public which can get on your nerves.

I remember that. Seems like later on, they had a glassed room where Mother's could take crying babies too and not miss the movie. But I still remember getting all excited seeing the candy in the display case in the lobby. I remember seeing John Wayne in True Grit there in '69 or 1970.

Yes! Disney, Bond movies, etc. I remember seeing the Legend of Boggy Creek there, I think. I was sitting on the end of the aisle up front. When that big hairy arm broke the window and grabbed the dude sitting on the toilet, I took off running up the aisle like I was shot out of a cannon, tripped sending my Milk Duds flying, and got back up so fast before I realized it was just a movie. The whole theater busted out laughing. I was maybe 8 yrs old. As I said earlier, lots of good memories.

I remember Siegen too. At one time, that theater was one of the top most visited theaters in the country. The traffic in and out of there was crazy. Lol
