Well no, you have flat out said that they are not telling the truth.

So what is the truth? You haven't answered that question.

Based on their investigation of the Epuyen outbreak, which involved three separate superspreader events – where a single person passed the infection to several others – Palacios said the window for transmission of the Andes virus appears to be short, about a day. People are at their peak of infectiousness on the day they develop a fever.

But the study also found that the virus could be passed relatively easily during this window, after periods of only brief proximity to someone else. The researchers were able to show that the first patient, a 68-year-old man who attended a birthday party with about 100 other people, infected someone else after being in contact with them for only a few moments, on the way to the restroom.

Pirate is immunocompromised from his bout with Monkey Pox so he's right to be a little more invested than most

I was tested for hantavirus last night. Been insanely sick the last few days (way worse than covid/flu which came back negative) with same symptoms as hanta and was in Argentina for a good chunk of April. I really don’t think I have it because I was nowhere near the cruise port but if I do this is about to be another pandemic.

That would explain the flight attendant that's in the hospital right now. The article I read said the flight attendant was only in contact with the Dutch woman for a few moments before they removed her from the plane (before the flight took off) because she was so ill.

Depends on the strain of Hantavirus:

HPS/HCPS, more common in the Americas fatality up to 50%

HFRS, more common in Asia/Europe fatality <1%-15%

Here's the conspiracy part: the only strain capable of human to human transmission is the Andes virus, a South American variant hantavirus strain.

So, either some South American rats stole away of a European ship, or someone didn't learn from the pandemic and is doing some dangerous viral experimentations

The OT is always close to ground zero on stories of international intrigue

Hopefully you're in the clear. Good to know they're testing - did you push for it or did they ask about international travel and recommend, etc.?

Also from the CNN article..

quote:

In the Epuyen outbreak, more than 80 healthcare workers were exposed to patients with symptoms, but none was directly infected themselves, though very few used any personal protective equipment. There were two infected healthcare workers at the local rural hospital, a smaller facility, which may have been the first to see sick patients.

Yes. It appears the OT will have now started 2 global pandemics.

Or - hear me out - the ship departed from Argentina and patient zero got it on land in Argentina before boarding

Which is exactly what the story has been

The couple was bird watching at a landfill in Argentina and that’s where they think the exposure occurred- then they got on the cruise ship and infected people who live all over the world. That’s the part of this that concerns me- the Chinese refused to stop people flying out of China and allowed COVID to spread - so clearly flying works as a super spreader event

They recommended after asking about travel and all the usual respiratory tests came back negative. I guess some good news is this virus has been around forever so we already have testing ability unlike early covid days.

That's nuts you got tested for it. Ironically, I saw some comments on social media videos this morning implying that Texas potentially had a case. Wonder if they were talking about you
