A friend is in Oak Alley and she just told me that both entrances are flooded or starting to flood and they had to sandbag the front of their house.

Abikaasa: there are a few of us here worried / watching the Grand Goudine. Seeing it's retreat stall midday today and the rise of New River, which it feeds into, I am making preparations.

Its called Grand Goudine. It's connected to the New River, but it's very far down.
I haven't heard anyone reporting on it. Which I assume is a good thing. But can anyone shed some light on it possibly overflowing??

The goudine crosses Hwy 74 close to Heberts steel. If they close 74 again that means it is rising again. You could see it rise but I have no clue when or how much.

Where at on Dutchtown Villa? I'm on Highland Dr. about 4-5 houses north of the interconnecting street.

She lives about two houses down from the connecting street on the outside (near the horse pastures). Told me water was rising near the back of their house. Told me she was sandbagging and they were leaving.

Here's the grand goudine gauge at Babin:
LINK

No rise yet but stalled. Anyone have eyes on it?

Or New River near Gonzales Country Club?

I've got people close. I'll send a text and see if they have seen anything.

Grand goudine gauge is accurate it's not rising.....New River is flowing backwards at Goudine though and flowing hard over to Bayou Francois under Cornerview so maybe it's backing up that way

Hadn't made much sense that Goudine isn't backing up harder yet but all this stuff is new after watching this crap there for 40 years

You should make precautions, but the slowing retreat of the Grand Goudine gage near Hwy 934 is understandable considering the water heights of the surrounding areas. An increase is possible, but getting back to the 11.5 feet it registered Saturday morning seems unlikely at this point. It is currently @ 9.2 feet.

Basically the water is trying to find equilibrium among areas where it can reach. Goudine isn't a likely candidate when it was at 11.5 feet Saturday morning while the surrounding waterways were much lower. Bayou Francois is @ 7.99 feet now, and has risen more than 2.5 feet in 24 hours, but that is understandable considering its height relative to the other waterways.

Still coming up..not out of my ditch yet but cover the road closer to the bayou..I'm still here right now, watching..I gave myself a line, if it gets too that point then I'll leave but for now I'm gonna stay

I used to live on Nelson right by you until I sold last year. My sister was off of John Alan but she left this morning.

I just got back from my parents on Weber city and is still rising pretty rapidly it appears. FYI prepera is closed right after Irma. You'll either have to go purpera and left on Irma out to burnside or take a right out to 30. I'd be ready to leave if I were you.
