I was supposed to go help someone off of Rushing Rd. at noon today. Thought we had plenty of time. Checked the stage of Amite and that bitch has come up faster than predicted. Almost at 39 feet now.

Airline to Florida or I-10 to range. The only ways into Denham this morning from where you are. But not sure you can even get to 10 from where you are.

were they there in 83 ?

I remember water 5 ft deep Greenwell at Monterrey back then. People were launching boats out of the Rack parking lot on Greenwell Springs.

Homes in the area of 4H/Rushing Rd intersection are taking water. Water is over 4H at the creek between Rushing and the nursing home.

They will probably revise the forecast crest even higher. Everyone that has even a remote possibility of flooding should take action now to protect life and property.

Grays Creek over 16 now at the curve near Southpoint Subdivision. Just a few inches...still passable.

Getting concerned about neighbors who took water in 1983. So much has changed over those 33 years, seems hard to predict how this will compare (better/worse?)

Just going to expect the worst & be ready. Everyone stay safe

House was built in 95. I believe it was built 6-8 ft above the 83 flood. It's going to be close.

Hell, it will be 83 flood levels by this evening. Probably going to crest by tomorrow.

This is a complete shite show. I need to go get someone's shite out of their house and thought if I was in and out by noon I would be good. Not looking good now.

Seems like the gauges up river rose faster and crested earlier than predicted. I hope this is the case. In 1983, there was water over Range.

Looks like more bad news for today... Models are showing anywhere from another 6" - 15" for the BR area and more as you head west. However, it looks like things should finally break late today or tomorrow as the front finally starts to lift the system out.

NWS has another High Risk for Excessive Rainfall for today:
