Vanity sizing...buy brands that don't do it.

I wish the government would regulate what types of clothing can be manufactured in certain sizes. There are just some clothes that shouldn't be made in certain sizes. For the good of society as a whole the government should outlaw the production of booty shorts, yoga pants, bike shorts, muscle shirts, anything made of Lycra, spandex, with horizontal stripes, large cargo pockets or with pleats, and skinny jeans over a size 14 or a 38. And I'm being generous with the sizes, I think.

Yeah that's what we need. More government agencies, with more government workers doing a sub par job doing some bullshite that they shouldn't have a job for in the first place.

I feel your pain

I’m 6’3, and athletic/skinny and for the life of me, I cannot find a t shirt or a dress shirt that fits me correctly, and if it does, the first time I wash it, it becomes way too small, especially in the sleeves

Its fricking annoying

In our PC world, size XXXL would become medium and small sizes would be banned.

I don't have much time to go out to the stores to shop. I would rather spend that time doing shite that enjoy doing and not having to deal with dumb people and crowds and traffic, etc.

That's your choice, but one of the consequences of that choice is that the clothes you buy online might not fit.

I ordered two identical pair of slacks from the same vendor.

I think the inseam on one of them is at least 4" longer than the other. They are supposed to be identical.

Absolute bullshite.

If anything sizes are getting smaller, particularly for men’s polo shirts. I had several mediums I wore all though college. Went to the polo store and had to by a L to have it fit remotely similar to the medium.

Hanging up the mediums and the L and I can see the old mediums were noticeably larger

Different people have different shapes and like their clothes to fit differently. This is why you shop around and figure out which brands are to your taste and fit.

frick. It isn't that complicated.

And brands cut & style clothes differently based upon who that particular piece is designed for. Then you also get into the different materials for construction and their shrinkages, there is no way to regulate nor should they. Guessing the op is a democrat and wants the gubment to wipe asses as well

If you’re going to buy online, take your measurements.

They list the measurements of clothes online... so you shouldn’t have a problem most of the time if you go by that.

you get 3 different random brands of jeans and odds are, to fit and feel the same way, you will end up with 3 different sizes
Go buy three different pair of Carhartts. None will fit the same.

Within the same brand, companies will have clothes manufactured in different countries. Idk why, but they don't use the same sized forms for the same pair of pants across the board.

I started buying from American manufacturers, and don't have that problem anymore

The arm diameter of Polo shirts is what is most annoying. My arms haven't gotten any bigger in a long time, yet shirts have become tighter and tighter

The root cause of this is quality control at the clothing company itself. Sizing differences are largely driven by the production timing and the factory location.

RL Polo is the absolute worst offender. You can buy a shirt from there and it can be made in Sri Lanka, Cambodia, China, Vietnam, etc. and they are all cut differently and made of different fabrics and blends...absolutely no quality control standards. To further complicate matters, the same shirt made at one of these locations will be cut differently than the same shirt made at the same factory 2 months later.

I think the solution is to find a brand that is consistent and give them your business. Alternatively, buy a few different shirts at the same time if you are in the store since many of the clothing runs are made at the same time in different colors. When you buy online, no telling which batch came from which factory.
