I take a low dosage of an anti-depressant once a day. The last few days I forgot to take it and didn't realize it until yesterday when I wasn't feeling right. It makes my head feel a little cloudy and it makes me feel a little more on edge.

Anyway, there are people who take much stronger higher dosage meds and I would have to think that the impact on them would be stronger.

Is it possible that people who take these for awhile then get off.. And it causes an imbalance in their head.. Do you think that is a cause of some people doing crazy criminal shite?

There are withdrawal syndromes that can result from titration of any psychotropic. I don't think it's the cause of criminal shite though.

The acute feeling of weirdness will go away after about a week. Then you can objectively assess whether you can function without the pill. If you find you are on a roller coaster and your mood is not stable, you can always get back on it. That’s what happened to me.

I didn't word it the best.. I was exaggerating a little bit. But yeah, I was just wondering if the withdrawals could cause people to act irrational.. And do irrational stuff.

Perhaps do a bit of research on the shite you are putting in your body.

SSRIs are causing serious chemical changes within your body and discontinuing use can cause withdrawal like symptoms.

This is well known, and I’ve never even taken them.

Heightened emotional sensitivity OweO, in some is an indicator of higher than normal intelligence. Judging by your topics, I would say that applies to you.

If I had to guess (and it's only a guess) you take lexapro. Judging by what I'm reading here, you're "on edge" because you haven't been taking it as prescribed. If compliant with the medicine however and you're still edgy, then the medicine you're taking may not be right for you or you more than likely require an increase. These medicines are intended to decrease edginess and irritability.

To answer your question, no. These medicines do not cause nor do they prevent criminal behavior, whether you're coming off them or not.

Typically, doses increase or medicines change based on severity of symptoms. It's common for meds to work at certain doses for, lets say a year or so and then the therapeutic effects wears off, requiring a dosage incease.

The standard dose for lexapro for instance is 10 mg but it's not uncommon to have to go to 20 mg after about a year.

I take a low dose anti-depressant medication once a day (in the mornings). If I forget to take it, I start to feel crappy around lunchtime. Similar to what you describe; fuzzy head, a little dizziness, sleepy, and hungry. If I have to go all day without it, once I do take it, I have to lay down for an hour or so.

My doctor told me never to quit it cold turkey. It would be at least two weeks of hell on withdrawals. I’d have to be weened off of it.

I’d say it’s a likely reason. Not the only reason but a likely one. They get out of jail/hospital where they’ve been taken their meds, get out on the street and when they run out after a month or two and they don’t go to the doctor or afford a refill, well...who knows what can happen?

Some of these meds have side effects when people are on them and then other issues when getting off of them. It’s chemistry. I wouldn’t rule anything out. To put it in perspective some people that drink get happy, some get obnoxious, and some get violent. Not sure why meds wouldn’t have a wide range of effects also.
