My niece was married several years ago in the Fall.

She specifically looked for a date Tennessee had an off week. Her words, "I knew half my family wouldn't be there wouldn't be there if I scheduled it on game day."

There is a standing rule in our family. You do not get married or buried on game day. Not even joking.

This.

Also, what kind of weddings do ya'll go to? Every wedding I've ever attended has been an absolute blast. Maybe it's because my family is Irish Catholic

I have a funeral this weekend that starts at 11am - when the red river shootout takes place. I am upset about the timing for sure…

Lucky for you the game is on ESPN so you can get the ESPN app on your phone and pay 9.99 for one month and still watch the game (or log in with your cable credentials and stream it that way without paying extra, but attempt this ahead of time to figure it out) and try not to shout expletives. It'll drain the shite out of your battery though, so bring a charger and adapter with you. You'll probably end up with some other people huddled around you. You won't be the only one.

You answered your own question

I’m about 50/50 between “drunken shitshow” and “dry Baptist” in my wedding career

If you want to go down that rabbit hole you can say that about everything in life.

She is mad because you are messing with an opportunity to be vain

Had a friend plan their wedding for Labor Day weekend. So I'm expected to bring gifts and give up my holiday weekend? The cherry on top was the cash bar

Record the game just in case. Watch half of it before the wedding. Watch the rest on phone with an earbud. It’s gonna be over 30 min after the wedding starts.

There are things in your life you can actually control. You can't control what happens in a football game on TV.

My sister in law got married last weekend. We flew 2000+ miles to be there. The ceremony was on Thursday night. So they got that right. Unfortunately, SC moved their game, which I had tickets to Thursday night because of the hurricane. On the plus side we had a great time at the reception.

All told I was out about 1 grand because of it and my kids still hasn't be to a live game despite multiple tries. Suck it up and go.

Stupider planning - Southern couple getting married on a Tiger game day or a Hispanic couple getting married on a UFC or boxing fight night?
