i know everyone's life is different but i don't really get this. what are you doing on saturday afternoons now that's so much better than college football? what is so different?

maybe it's different because i'm meeting up with friends at bars and day drinking or going to games just about every weekend, but i don't get the "my life is so much better now that i don't watch football" trope that's become popular on here.

I agree. It weirdly has become the cool thing on this SPORTS message board to act above it all and look down upon people enjoying football on football Saturday's in the fall and planning their days around it

I am married with kids and the results of football games aren't as serious to me as they had been but I am not going to act like it isn't fun and beneath me.

Wife is pissed that I don't want to go. Any advice from the O-T Lounge? I gotta watch my tigers this weekend

I think the tradeoff of missing the LSU game (which you can watch later) isn't worth the untold amount of time that you not going will be held over your head by your wife. Fall weddings are dumb AF ,don't get me wrong. But you gotta weigh the pros and cons and think long term baw.

Just go and get out as quickly as possible to watch the game on your DVR.

There’s a difference between blowing off a game on TV for a wedding and blowing off a game you have tickets for because of a wedding.

If I were paying 4-5 figures for season tickets, I wouldn’t be blowing off the Bama or OM games for a wedding because those are the ones which justify the cost of the ticket package.

And anyone in the greater BR area should be aware of this kind of shite. My kids have birthdays during football season and everyone tries to schedule their birthday parties on either away game weekends or on bye weeks because they KNOW people will blow off events on a gameday.

Oof. Yeah that's a different animal. I guess I missed where op had tickets.

Shitty situation all around in that case. Good luck

I don’t know if OP has tickets or not but I used to have season tickets and would have to plan events around games simply due to the expense

A fall wedding is a pretty good filtering mechanism if you think about it. The really critical guests will bail on the game without a second thought, and you save money on the fringe guests who decide to watch the game. No hard feelings either way.

Step-sister got married in Louisiana during the Bama @ LSU game in 2006. She was never an LSU fan, but frick that. Half the reception you would see people huddled around whoever had a little earpiece radio trying to get scope updates. This was prior to smartphones really.

I had an October wedding. Just made sure to pick an away game weekend. Had the LSU game on TV for anybody that wanted to watch. That wasn't too hard.
