been there twice. It was completely full both times. They weren't hurting for business. And based on the customer demographics, I doubt there's many who were offended by the term Dixie or by the Confederate vs Union team setup. Probably pissed more of their customers off by caving to pressure from SJW's who aren't going to the Dixie Stampede anyway.
I don’t know. Call it a preemptive strike against bad press? You’re trading “Dixie” which comes with baggage whether deserves or not makes ZERO fricking difference, and going with “Dolly Parton” who is getting Old, beloved, and creeping into national treasure status.
Be less worried about Dixie and southern heritage and be more worried about the gays that will flock to this park now. Gays love them some Dolly.

Lol are y’all upset with this?

Dave Chapelle said it best. This country is filled with brittle spirits.

Screw it, they don't serve any alcohol anyway.. It sucks...
Before it started, I had to sit and listen to a blue grass trio and sip on lemon-aid in a plastic cowboy boot..
They don't even serve beer...

They also have one in South Carolina I think.
They did for a long time. It became Pirates Voyage some time back. The Dixie Stampede was immensely popular in Myrtle Beach year round, one of the few places that wouldn't close in the winter when I was a kid.
I had a bunch of friends work there in high school and college and they always told me there were fewer seats on the Confederate side than the Yankee side so the South could win most of the flag races. Always got a kick out of that.

I’m saying the same type to become irate over “Dixie” and confederate flags would not take kindly to Dolly’s gay following.

I doubt anyone who had a problem with the original name would be attending Dixie stampede in the first place
Lol. Unfortunately you're wrong. They go just to be offended. Here's why it was changed.

Stupid or not, certain people will hold disdain against anything with the word Dixie in it and refuse to pay to attend the stampede. From a business perspective, you want as many people to be willing to come as possible. This change won't keep me from taking kids one day and will encourage certain people to attend more. It was probably the smart thing to do to increase revenue.

Aww...poor black people and self hating baristas.

I was reading up on this and the medieval-themed one not too long ago.
How are these still a thing? Sounds like shitty food and a mind numbing overpriced waste of time with no alcohol.
Like the average age of their target audience must be dead.

Dinner theaters are still popular.
My SO and I are going to one in Greenville, TX next month to hear Howard Jones.
We were also in Pigeon Forge in December and went to one which featured the Sounds of Motown (highly recommended BTW -- one of the current singers is the grandson of an original Four Tops member).

What is politically incorrect about the word Dixie?
It's not gender-neutral ("dicks-y").

Well, this is the cowardly generation.

Why on earth would this encourage someone to go there now that wouldn't have before?
You think if Tyrone's Urban Hair Salon changed it's name to Billy Rays Haircut Place, they would all of a sudden increase their revenue?

I have been to Dixie and the Medieval Knights and I cannot understand why you'd want to eat crappy food surrounded by the smell of horse crap?
