quote:

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede will have a new name when it opens for the 2018 season.

quote:

“Our shows currently are identified by where they are located,” Dolly said in a statement. “Some examples are Smoky Mountain Adventures or Dixie Stampede. We also recognize that attitudes change and feel that by streamlining the names of our shows, it will remove any confusion or concerns about our shows and will help our efforts to expand into new cities.”

And just because...here is a link to Jolene, one of the greatest country songs of all time

When I was a kid, they used Confederate battle flags and U.S. flags, and the waiters/waitresses wore Union or Confederate uniforms. Then they took that away, resorting to red or blue Dixie Stampede flags and generic uniforms for the staff. Now, they don't even want to call it "Dixie" anymore. Next, they'll take the Southerners/Northerners signs out of the bathrooms.

Well, at least I have the soup recipe so frick em.

Jesus Christ.

I doubt anyone who had a problem with the original name would be attending Dixie stampede in the first place

I try to avoid Pigeon Forge when I'm in the Smokies.

Just got back from there. Saw maybe 3 black people the whole time. Are they trying to attract more blacks? seems like a bold move there.

Wow. This is fricking funny. We were up there on Vacation for the LSU game and stayed over 4 extra days.

I saw that place and said "it's a matter of time" to my girlfriend. Shocker.

Just smart business. Why hang to that title if it makes people hate you. Or worse yet makes people who attend over time say “frick it”?

Also making it the Dolly Parton stampede is smart. People who want to be pissed about the change can’t get mad at Dolly Parton.
