Question for you guys..

Johnny's defense asked the coke whore sister about a woman named Howell (or something close).. Supposedly this is who the sister moved in with after the stairwell incident. Allegedly the sister told Howell the events and Howell says it was the complete opposite of what the sister testified to on the stand.. Couldn't johnnys team have called Howell and tried to impeach the sisters testimony? Or at least made her testimony questionable?

very possible they call the person you speak of as a rebuttal witness

there's also apparently a letter or audio between the 2 (Amber's sister & this roommate person) where they talk about the stairs incident story being false

Johnny's side could get that into the record using this roommate (be a hell of a lot easier than trying to get it in with Whitney on the stand)

That would literally be the nail in the coffin..

it would've been hearsay except Whitney told the story on the stand... so now it's apparently able to be used

Listening to Court TV, but not very closely. They are saying Jennifer Howell will appear by depo next week.

I didn't hear the entire conversation, but I caught that the person talking was either in the courtroom today or got info from someone who was. They were discussing a big win for Heard on a jury instruction regarding the inference the jury can draw from the testimony of Depp's attorney, presumably the fact that he didn't answer the questions. I can't rewind the stream to play it again. Did anyone hear it?

that would be a terrible jury instruction... why would the judge allow that?

how is that any different from a suspect refusing to talk to police without an attorney present??

ETA: also probably means the chance of getting Heard's countersuit thrown out immediately after the defense rests is gone now too

They just discussed again what went on in court this morning. It involves the attorney's statements he made. The attorney would not answer whether he made those statements at the behest of his client. The judge ruled that the jury could consider that the statements were made by the attorney as Depp's principal agent. I believe I have that right.

The girl was talking very fast giving a little summary of some of what went on including that the judge refused to give an instruction defining "domestic abuse". This would also seem to play against Depp if the door is left open for the jury to conclude that vocal violence is a part domestic abuse. I haven't heard them expound on that, so that's my own conclusion. It would seem to me that the "domestic abuse" might be broader than just physical abuse in this case as far as what the jury considers.

Then lock up half of the population, lol...

And her op-ed specifically said "violence" IIRC, not abuse.. But I may be wrong.

I'm hoping to hear more on the instructions. As I said, the girl was talking very fast and didn't get into much detail.

I am sure it has been discussed by now, but this is the jury.

The blank spots are empty seats.

7 of the 9 will be randomly selected to go into deliberation.

Bet the voir dire questions were interesting. Both sides were after something. Compare jury make-up to Fairfax demographics. Dunno what it means exactly, but kinda stuck out.

According to someone in the courtroom reporting.

When Amber looks at the jury she goes straight to the top right. The two women. If they aren't connecting then she looks towards the only other female.

The male closest to her appears very uninterested to make contact with her, so she skips over him.

Does it have to be a unanimous verdict or majority of ?

If they just had a witness chair instead of a witness box, she could pull a Basic Instinct and paint the jurors.

That’s a pretty young jury.

Whatever the verdicts are, I would love to hear from the jurors when the trial is over.

#MeToo is over if we don’t listen to ‘imperfect victims’ like Amber Heard

quote:

On Heard’s side is the following evidence. Depp admits to head-butting his ex-wife (by accident), and there are texts from his assistant alleging he kicked Heard. There are texts from Depp to Paul Bettany saying he wanted to kill Heard and rape “her burnt corpse”. There is a recording of Depp shouting at Heard for speaking in an “authoritative” way to him. She was awarded a domestic violence restraining order in 2016. In 2018 Depp sued the Sun newspaper for libel after it called him “a wife beater”. He lost the case after the judge found 12 of 14 alleged incidents of Depp’s abuse of Heard to be true.

quote:

Every sexist trope ever used to humiliate and discredit female accusers has been deployed against her at vast scale. Re-enacting her testimony of rape and abuse has become a game on TikTok. She has been mocked by Saturday Night Live, and by Chris Rock (“Believe all women, except Amber Heard”).

quote:

Whether or not Heard’s accusers fully realise it then, setting up “bad” victims in opposition to “genuine” ones is a very effective method of unpicking #MeToo. It is only the rare misogynist who outright admits they don’t believe women. Their objection has always been just to this one bitch, who is lying.

So much talk on LawTube of Heard's lawyers recalling Depp tomorrow (Monday)

That seems like such a terrible idea to me... esp considering Heard's team has just more than 8 hours remaining to finish presenting her case-in-chief AND cross any Depp rebuttal witnesses

Questioning Depp again is only going to waste like 2-3 hours of that time for little to no reward unless Depp says something completely ludicrous
