seems risky, what would they gain from that?
at this point it certainly seems like that decision has even more to lose than it could possibly gain
that said... you have to remember...
the client is the GM and the lawyers are the coaches
if the GM is a Jerry Jones type... they can throw a bunch of shite at the coaches and say 'do this' and the coach has to try and make it work
Heard could be ordering the lawyers to do it and they have to try to do something with it
ETA: imagine Mickey Loomis telling Sean Payton to run the Wing-T in 2010... Heard would be Loomis & her attorneys are Payton/coaching staff

Pennington's depo is done
another depo coming next

another depo coming next

I just saw ending of depo, but why can't defense cross on depos? Rekeita Law was saying if she was in court cross would be brutal and gave some examples of them destroying her story.

makes you wonder if that is the reason why Ambers witnesses aren't showing up for court.

Depp's lawyers asked Pennington questions 1st on the video depo

so this witness is Pennington's ex-husband

if you're asking it... it's very possible the jurors have these questions as well

This is exactly what it looks like to me. It is the only thing that explains the defense trial strategy.

I stopped watching after Amber was done yesterday, was this girl's initial direct yesterday, then cross and redirect today?

it's all been video depositions... so Depp's lawyers ask questions then Heard's lawyers ask questions and we move on

there are reports out there saying the Heard team very well may call Depp back to the stand...
which I feel would be a terrible mistake
I don't see how they can. They had a full opportunity to examine him already.
If they do call him, it would have to be on some topic not addressed in his direct examination.

Or to impeach his prior testimony??

the BIG problem with that is Depp's lawyers can then come up on cross and ask him leading questions all day
and apparently that's a dream situation for a lawyer... getting carte blanche to lead your client on the stand

That is what cross-examination is for.

You can't lead your own witness, even if it is on "cross."

interesting... Rekieta said they could
maybe it's civil vs. criminal?
or something in the Virginia Commonwealth rules that are unique?

Rekieta just picked up on why these are all video depos and not in person...
all the responses are "I was told..." and "I heard..." aka all hearsay which would be drawing furious objections from the plaintiff table

You can if you are the Elon Musk of pit bull attorneys, and the other side, who is supposed to object, is a stunned bitch, who ate everybody's glue in elementary school.
