I've taken to breaking the ice with the lyrics from '90s pop songs.
The words are penetrating because she's likely heard 'em before, but she likely won't realize it when they're spoken rather than sung with musical accompaniment.

Stupid text from the guy, but so what? What happened to just rejecting the guy and moving on? No matter how hard people try to deny it, men and women are going to chase each other and try to frick. The survival of our species literally depends on it.

good point, her "male source," that she can accuse but not identify might be a burner phone

If you think that is appropriate, you’re the problem.

If you are going to say dumb shite like this then do it via phone call or face to face. Don't memorialize this behavior in writing where it's saved forever.

No reason to defend stupid

Also, you should know which women you can say something like that to and which ones you can't.

If in doubt, you don't know her well enough to say it.

What are “professional drinks”.

I can drink like a pro. Does that count?

The guy is a cheese ball but goddamn if that’s a crime prison crowding is about to be an even bigger issue.

That is NOT sexual harassment. If he persists itabsolutely is. He made a comment, she said “too far”, and he shut it down. I guess that all the text I saw. That’s always been the definition?

“Professional drinks.” LOL.

Let me guess, when you were getting intoxicated with this guy you were wearing a tight fitting dress, were all dolled up, and acting friendly? It’s like getting mad at your car for speeding off after you stomp on the gas.

his text is akin to asking random chicks at the bar if they want to have sex....even if they want to they are gonna say no

Admitting you're trashy, great.

What the dude said is completely inappropriate and weird as frick.

She's also being a whiny bitch for saying that she was sexually harassed.

This isn't that complicated, but keep being a Neanderthal

or she could just say no thank you and move on. this doesn't need to be made public. who here believes she never uses her sexuality to get something from a man?

I’m going to play devils advocate here. The guy is creepy, but beyond that, he’s a colleague. Yeah, she can simply shut him down, but I can imagine it’s pretty weird to have to see this dude every day.

Now imagine he’s not the only guy at work that she has to constantly shut down. I think her point is that things would be less complicated and awkward if guys would refrain from being creepy.

I've gotten some miles out of "the silhouette of you in the moonlight sends shivers right to my heart."

To the lyrics game, my brother.

After he said something like that? No.

Smart people don't operate like that. Plant workers living in a doublewide in Ascension Parish do.

He's a "source" doesn't mean he is a colleague. She's an energy and environment reporter and formerly a political reporter so he could simply be an exec for some big energy company and tells her when news stories are coming or when something is about to break and only sees occasionally. They go for "professional" drinks one night and he thinks it's a date or she is into him and boom....late night drunk text she splatters all over twitter.
