I'm not talking about government. They are incompetent everywhere.

I'm talking about the inability for private businesses and their employees to do anything correctly or with any sort of speed.

We can go to chain pharmacy that has one employee working and half of their shelves empty, or we can go to the local pharmacy that's only open bankers hours and charges 3x as much.

We can go to the chain grocery store with all self-checkout lanes, or we can go to the local grocery store with one cashier who is on her phone the entire time.

My wife's doc retired and I called my doctor practice to see if she could start over there. Three weeks for a new patient to be seen.

No one knows how to drive. No one knows how to use a trash can.

If I leave this place... and it's looking more likely every day... it's not because of the government or the crime.. it's just because even business can't do anything right.

And the recent culture of participation trophies is working to exacerbate this issue.

I don't mind the self checkout if I have 4 items but if you have 50 it sucks.

You're talking about businesses keeping staff low to make a better profit, and that aint exclusive to the south.

LA reached a tipping point like 15-20 years ago.

Other than emigration (which isn't going to happen), there is no path to any real improvement.

that is pretty common. my doc retired, and I had to look for a solid week to find someone that would see me within a month. That is in Houston too.

You will get downvoted into oblivion but it's largely true. I've lived in three different states, and I would say that overall Louisiana people seemed to deal with paralyzing anxiety more than most. I think that is a large part of the problem.

Self check outs are awesome. I’m faster than the people who work there. Plus I don’t have to tell them not to bag the ground meat with a toothbrush.

I recently made the conscious decision to never go in Walgreens again. I now get prescriptions at the local place. Pricing has not been any different and RX ready within the hr.

Local groceries around me are well run (all 3). The Winn Dixie and Rouses always has some bs going on.

I left Louisiana and was pleasantly surprised by the competence at grocery stores. Everyone wants your business and they’re happy to help.

Uh, I don’t think that is incompetence as much as he is just busy. Maybe he is actually good and competent so he has more work than he can handle?

I rarely have more than a dozen items or so

Store is on way home from work and will stop 2-3 times a week

There is a little locally owned AG store not too far from my house. They always have almost every register open.

I'll gladly pay 20% more to go there when I just need a few things. I've never been worse than 2nd in line and having to wait at all is pretty rare.
