LA reached a tipping point like 15-20 years ago. Other than emigration (which isn't going to happen), there is no path to any real improvement.
Yep. Hope it’s just melodramatic doomcasting but the state seems to have reached escape velocity.
There is no realistic path to reversing the core drivers of Louisiana’s overarching shittiness.
I’ve said it a hundred times, Louisiana gives you the worst aspects of being a red state AND the worst aspects of being a blue state while returning none of the positives you see other blue/red states enjoying.
For better or worse, it’s 100x easier to just leave the state and spend the limited time you have on earth somewhere that has its act (more) together than to fight the literal centuries of inertia.

I recently made the conscious decision to never go in Walgreens again. I now get prescriptions at the local place. Pricing has not been any different and RX ready within the hr.
My pricing is typically better in the local pharmacies. There are some rare exceptions. It’s not uncommon for a $10-20 medicine to be $200-300 at Walgreens and CVS.

Whenever I leave the state I’m absolutely blown away by how I’m treated at fast food establishments You go from being a nuisance to someone who is treated with respect
Fast food place I went to in my new hood after I moved out of LA last year took slightly longer than normal to make my order (like maybe an extra minute or two over. Barely even noticed it was running slower). Cashier apologized for the wait and said the order was on the house.
It was something I’ve never experienced in a fast food place in Louisiana. The attitude most often expressed in Louisiana in a situation like that is to be thankful you even got your order at all.

But... these days if I could live in the burbs and only go the office one or two days a week? I would highly consider that.
I lived in both South LA and North LA. Houston people are much more caffeinated and friendlier.
I'm in that exact situation now, live near Cinco Ranch and only have to drive in once a week. I love it.

Louisiana posters here have always had a lot of self-loathing about their state. I’m unsure how much is justified.
I live in Mandeville and am quite happy. Lived and loitered all over the country and everywhere has its good and bad. I do loathe the horrible incompetence of New Orleans (lived 3 years, in and around longer) and Baton Rouge ( 4 years). Friends relocated to Houston seem happy and when we visit often seems nice enough but kinda artificial. I have no doubt you could get into macro level comparative issues state by state but our life is good. Each his own.
Sorry, Let the Louisiana bashing orgy continue.
ETA: odd how people who have “transcended” this LA shithole seem so bent on trashing it so much, or those presumably trapped here don’t just get the frick out and enjoy their lives.

The old money families and the political dynasties feeding at the public trough want to keep things as they are. They don’t want true political, economic, or educational reform because it’ll upset the status quo. Louisiana has squandered the advantages it has from its location on the map: access to the heartland upriver and the Gulf downriver, abundant freshwater, mild winter climate, rich soils, and abundant minerals. We should have a high quality of life but for the politicians and their lackeys who continue to take advantage of us.

Sounds like countries in Africa.
