I’m being forced to go to Disney in July with the wife and kids plus her sister, husband, and their six daughters.
I’d rather shoot myself in the foot. All I keep hearing about is fricking Disney. They asked me over Christmas what I was looking forward to. I said laying by the pool. I also asked if our hours left had a gym. I proceeded to look for nearby CrossFit gyms.
They didn’t know what to think when I said I just didn’t give a shite.

As someone stated maybe those people look at people that go all out on LSU season tickets, season RV passes and travel to away games in the same light, wondering why they spend all that money and time on a repetitive event
Traveled and ate/drank in Chicago/Wisconsin, Austin, and Nashville the last few years for away games. Experiencing new cities and cultures >>> sweating in the same overpriced concrete jungle and eating their shitty food every year

Try being less of a manly man and just enjoy yourself. Trust me if y’all do it right you’ll have a blast, don’t do it right you’ll be miserable.

That sounds awful. Way too many people to plan around.
Good luck with that.

Why do you care so much what other adults spend their money on? I don't get why people spends a frick ton of money every year fishing and hunting, but I don't start threads to bitch about it.
Found the grown man obsessed with Disney.

If you could to Disney, stalk Dumbo with a .30-06, and have him turned into an attractive wall-trophy and a bunch of sausage then you might have a point.

Is there any other reason to start a thread?

My family always bought us season passes and we either stayed with family in Orlando or did some glamping at Fort Wilderness, so it was never that costly. Being only 2 hours away helps costs.
Now I look to take our kid in the near future (avoiding staying with family) and wow things are outrageously priced. Not sure if this is inflation or if Disney has enough followers now that they just price whatever they want and people will pay.
Don’t look at a Disney Cruise, you’ll lose it.

I have never been to Disney World. I don’t get the vibe unless we have a lot of nut jobs who like fondeling Daffy Duck and Minnie Mouse ?

A couple of years ago my mom decided to take the family to Disney World for an entire week on her dime.. my brother, his wife, their two kids.. i was invited (i wasnt married then, and have no kids) but declined, because the catch was that they were all sharing one hotel room .. it was apparently a super nice hotel on the resort property- but sharing one room with that many people, even if family, for a week, sounded like my idea of hell on Earth.. they said they enjoyed the trip, but predictably there were a couple of knock down drag out arguments, reminiscent of holiday drama... Not worth the trade off, IMO.

Disney are a bunch of fascist prudes. All it takes to get banned for life is to be rolling on some pure X and give some of the princesses an “inappropriate” hug

I’ve probably gone 20-25 or so times over the last 5 years with my kids. We’ve gotten annual passes so it’s a small fraction of the cost as folks from Louisiana pay, and we live 2.5 hours away. Often I’ll just take one or two of them up for the day and come back that night.
If you know what you’re doing with the fast passes/app and don’t sweat every detail you can have a great time with your kids there. Disney does a ton of things really well for kids and all three of mine have had a great time.
There are DEFINITELY some weird arse people there sans kids but they seem to be having a great time. Life’s too short to worry about why they would choose to go there.

Jesus this thread is still going.
I will say this - the analogy of Disney vs sporting events is fricking retarded. Sporting events you have no idea what the outcome is, tailgating is a massive social event with people you know, people from work, etc. Disney is the same thing over and over again - the same rides, the same costumes, the same overpriced hotels, the same overpriced food. Yes I get that they open a new wing in a resort every 5 years, but that's not a reason to go 2 or 3 times per year.
You people are delusional mouse cultists.

I don't get it either but I do get where horsemeat is coming from. I've got a brother in law that has done the cruise with wife and four kids, several trips to Disney world, and once he went by himself.
I say screw that fricking leftist mousetrap.

It is an objective fact that adults who go to Disney World without kids are weird.
Hey, you do you. I completely support your right to be weird, but at least admit that you’re weird. At least the furries own it.

My wife and I had an entire free trip to World a few years back. Max dining pass, park passes, etc.
I left saying there is no way I’d ever spend a dollar of my own there. I was miserable. I never understood going on vacations that require hour by hour planning. It was absolute donkey doo doo.

Completely agree with this. Know several BR folks who go to Disney annually if not more.
Don’t understand it at all, but my conclusion is they are comfortable with how they spend there money there vs traveling the world.
Guy spent little over 8k for he his wife and kid. For 8k, wife and I can go to South America for close to 2 weeks.
