He was also married to Peggy Lipton of Mod Squad fame. This was in 1974. I loved watching that show, mostly because of her.

Quincy Jones was also the producer on Thriller and Off the Wall. He helped create many of the sounds that defined an era.
But Sanford and Son alone makes him a national treasure. Watching that show after school in the afternoons, that song heralded the arrival of some good insults and laughs.

I bet most people here have never heard the phrase "fish-eye'd fool"
And his recurring phrases that always got changed up.
"Oh no, this is the big one. You hear that Elizabeth? I'm coming to join you honey..........I'll be the one ............."
"Esther, you so ugly........."
"Yes, that's Fred G. Sanford. And the "G" stands for ............"
I swear, I think he ad libbed the endings of those most of the time.

Sad day. QJ was one of the GOAT people in entertainment. And S&S always, always, always reminds me of Scrubs:

Those were the days when people could laugh at themselves. Modern society is so pussified.

This guy shaped modern music and culture. He had so many big acts that he conducted, wrote, or produced for from 1965-1995, and their influence was 'the sound'.
What a sad loss.

Why does the one on the left look like Lisa Turtle from Saved by the Bell

Sanford and Son was actually direct port of a British show called Steptoe and Son
A bit like The Office, it became its own American creature, much beloved.

Just the other day I played this song to a 30 yo. Not only did she not know this, she had never heard of Sanford & Son. Made me sad.
They might know this one that samples it...

All good stuff, but Quincy had significantly more impactful moments than Sanford and Son and We are the World.
This is like saying Michael Jordan's best moment was dunking from the free throw line to win the slam dunk content. Yes that moment was memorable, awesome and iconic, but it there is much more.

Want to be amazed at the impact one human being can have on society in a single lifetime?
Hot take: Off the Wall and NOT Thriller is Michael Jackson's best album.
Who Produced it? That's right, Quincey Jones.

This one is also an all time favorite of mine. The break at 2:49 is a hip hop classic....
