Anyone can wear nice jeans. Calling all nice jeans bedazzled is stupid. Paints the wrong picture.

Dipping enrollment. It was their answer to falling behind in the competition for private school kids. Differentiating themselves as a school for fundamentalist Christians and anti-vaxers

Well really because Dr Melilli was 83 and wanted out so he brought the guy from St Amant in and sold it to him. Wonder if he owner financed.

And it wasn’t Jere Don. I think he’s in Florida. It was Jonathan and he and the old man didn’t get along. He’s in California selling BMW’s. I think Angela is still around here but I haven’t seen her in several years. I grew up with them and they weren’t any different than most of us. Just typical-nothing worse than smoking weed and drinking but that was enough for the Dr.

While that certainly was one reason. The events leading to that point started a few years ago when the story of the teacher screwing a student came out.

Apparently it was reported to the Headmaster but he swept it under the rug. Melilli fired him after that. The school was never the same and enrollment declined to the point where the bank cut off the schools line of credit and they didn’t have the numbers to make it work in the 2016-2017 school year.

They spring it on us three days before the 2016-2017 school year was to start that The Church would be taking over the school and CLA would become The Church Academy in the 2017-2018 school year. I heard that the assumption of the loans and line of credit was the selling price but not sure if that is true.

That was my sons 8th grade year. He went to CLA from Pre-K to 8th grade. He left and went to Baton Rouge High for freshman year.

The school had a fighting chance for quite a while.

Wife is a Lifer. Pics in the annual.

Joe Champion (former LSU long snapper) was there for a while and did really good things. Very growth oriented.

But he had another calling and found his place in Austin and never looked back.

When I read about the St Amant guy and his operation I didn’t think it would last. That’s a shame.

Did you change the spelling in the post you quoted? Can Martini edit his posts without the edit notification?

It was all downhill when Peter Barnes left. He was a great administrator and a good man, and they treated him poorly.

Dipping enrollment + foolish capital expenditures + sustained expenses = financial trouble. They would have shut down two September’s ago had Church International not bought hem out.

Why do you keep saying the Church International? Is that what St. Amant is officially going by these days?

Basis.ed Is going to build another school in Baton Rouge. They are also building a new one in New Orleans. I was talking to the head master about it last week and he said it had been in the works since they opened the one on Woman's Hospital campus but they havent found locations for the new schools yet. Last I heard, the waiting list for Basis is 450+ just for grades 1-5, not including the new incoming kindergarteners for next year.

Not really in-the-know, but isn’t FLAIM looking for a permanent campus?

Runnels.

I predict Runnels will be the next private school to close in the city.
