I heard ORU (Oral Roberts) was taking over and planting some type of bible college there or something.
Would make sense considering Doc was/is on the ORU board but that’s just loose chatter.

I had heard Healing Place, but what you just said makes an awful lot of sense. The high school is permanently shutting down.
Not that their employees were making much, but I hope they get some severance. I cannot imagine it is easy at this stage in the game to find another job.

We get it dude. you're a vegan atheist.
I’m neither of those things. I just know how to spot hucksters and bullshite and the “speaking in tongues” is 100% hogswallop.
Even made up languages conform to certain rules and their “speech” doesn’t follow any of those things

Couldn't be any worse than Christo Rey taking over Redemptorist

I didn't mean to reply to you, I was just doing the funny and accurate comparison between vegans and atheists.

The Church Academy of Baton Rouge, in contract to Christian Life’s management, avidly embraced public support for private schools
Somebody never went to private school..

After reading through this thread, how many god damn different types of churches do they have throughout South Louisiana? You got The Church, The Celebration church or some shite. There is a church in Mandeville people are referring to, etc.
Are all these non-dom churches?

---nope.
Oh well, poor Jere Don never got a chance to run his daddy's school. Probably just as well. He probably had a few skeletons in the closet so to speak.

Thanks! Glad to hear the public school system is greatly improving.

Some people love it there but I see them as the type of church where men attend worship wearing bedazzled jeans looking like an extra from a Florida-Georgia Line music video.
The senior pastor of the church is a former Navy SEAL who lives in St. Amant. Not quite the type to wear bedazzled jeans.

They're all non-denominational churches. All of the largest churches in the country are. The one in Mandeville you're thinking about is Church of the King.

Seems like a great place to St. George High

My understanding of the situation is that in the 90’s the church had a rather large congregation and they subsidize the fact that the school was losing money. At some point the congregation size shrunk but the school had started making money and started subsidizing the church. Then in the last five years or so the enrollment dwindled and forced the issue for sale. I assume it really stems from people figuring they can move outside of ebr to get their kids in good schools. I think there are a lot of private schools in the area that face declining enrollment.
