I’m sure our auto industry has never received any sort of government subsidies.

The cars are dope. My sister in law has an electric BYD similar to the SUV n that video

Best thing about driving there are the countdown clocks at red lights, which are all also synced through their version of Google maps

Yeah so if you're driving somewhere running navigation off your phone, stopped at a red light the timer on your phone and red light are snyced up.

It's quite amazing and makes a pretty hectic drive a little less nerve-wracking

In the US you can just look at the walk signal as most of them have a countdown.

I was watching a youtuber(Sabbatical) who was in China exploring a border site. His Uber driver or equivalent was in a EV and on the way back they stopped at a station where they swapped the batteries out in under 5 minutes. They plan to build 1000 of these this year with a goal of 10K. Here's a vid on these battery swap stations.

The best American technology they could steal, coupled with slave labor, makes them very competitive.

No energy restrictions either.

Amazing how many people on here who are OK with fascist behavior.

Pointing out China manufactures absolute garbage is "fascist behavior"?

It doesn't show the car falling apart in the driveway after 2 weeks

It’s got some great innovative features, but I bet the quality and longevity is shite.

They finally built a hybrid the correct way, propulsion is always electric with an onboard gas generator for charging.

It’s more inefficient to burn fuel to make electricity that powers the car than for a gas engine to power the drivetrain directly. It’s cheaper to build this way, but to generate the electricity to go 300 miles will take more gas than the gas an ICE would use to go the same distance

That’s actually a great idea. Wish we had that here.

When WWIII breaks out thousands of these cars will just drive themselves into a bridge abutment at 100 mph.

Looks great now. How will it run in 5 years?

it won't.

More importantly - how could it handle a collision?
