Engineering school is pretty good, though
UNO was always the red headed step child of the LSU system
I always felt like Louisiana had too many universities for it's size. Too many community colleges too.

Yeah, I don't get this at all. If you love Louisiana, you should want our educational system to be successful. There are myriad reasons kids attend different types of schools in the state. Some schools have programs where they shine, or sometimes kids just want to stick close to home/go to a smaller school. LSU isn't for everyone.
And I say this as a BR native, two-time LSU grad, and a (almost) lifetime LSU football season ticket holder. We took our oldest to tour UL this year, and I was honestly very impressed. It's a nice campus, very clean from what we saw, and I think Lafayette is nicer than BR in many ways. Would have zero issues if our kids wanted to attend UL.
Plus, I would prefer an event at the Cajun Dome any day over the River Center just because of parking alone. Hate that garage.

I have family that attend ULL. Their campus is still very nice and well-kept compared to LSU’s. Sure the Cajundome has been long overdue for renovation, but that’s always been the case with Tier 2 and Tier 3 universities that lack donors.

The facilities are on par with any P5 in the South. The concessions and janitorial are, however, through Sodexo, who makes Aramark look like Company of the Year.

I was at LF arena for Billy Strings ew years eve. I had a great time, but that dump was never as nice as the Cajun dome at its worst.

The actual arena itself is pretty nice now after they renovated it.

I underestimated how steep the Cajundome is at the very top.
I initially made my way up to the last row to get a mid-court seat. I had to move down, because I was getting nauseous.
I never have this problem at the PMAC.
