Why would anyone form an opinion on the history of the Earth from a book of fiction?

I think you'll find most here disagree with you on that statement thank goodness.

Are you some kind of Evolutionist??

Fine. I get that... let's just call it a work of fiction and be done with it...

Like that of James Patterson or Dan Brown...

I was always told that God created the Earth and universe with the appearance of age.

If you're a literal Christian who believes the Earth is only 6000 years old or whatever I suppose you could take that to mean when God created the Earth he peppered the ground with fossils.

If you want to think a little more logically with your faith, God perceives time differently than us. A day to God or in heaven is a very, very, very long time to us. So when the bible says that God created the Heavens and Earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th it probably doesn't literally mean one week. Maybe the 6 "days" of creation are actually billions of our years going back to what we call the Big Bang and when God creates animals on the 5th and 6th day that is evolution and "Creation" ends when the first modern and intelligent humans arrive on the scene.
If that's the case I suppose we're still on the 7th day and God is still resting. Who knows?

Growing up in a Southern Baptist church I never once heard somebody suggest that dinosaurs were made up, and if I had I wouldn't have taken them seriously. I also never heard anybody mention dinosaurs and Noah or the Ark together. So your link is kind of silly.

What's your view on how dinosaurs fit into The Bible?
Genesis is a work of fiction

a global flood could have never happened on this planet

there is literally not enough water

now it's possible there was a regional flood on which the fictional narrative was based, but that still makes it fiction.

The men who wrote the bible didn't know what a dinosaur was.

You hit the nail on the head brother. If God didn't create the sun until the fourth 'God day' then why would it make sense to assume the previous days were in reference to a sun that didn't exist.

God created, and the earth is billions of years old. Not a mutually exclusive thing.

Just because there isn't now doesn't mean there didn't used to be. Some scientists believe the Earth has lost as much as a quarter of its water over time.

You realize that it's only very recent in human history that people are aware of the entire globe? To people as far back as Noah the region was all they knew and was their whole world. So no, the inclusion of the word "global" does not make it fiction in context.

They don't fit in the Bible.That's why they're not in it.

Dinosaurs were Millions of years ago.The Bible is Thousands of years old.

Your post is full of stupid. The flood story is a shared story from other ancient civilizations (Gilgamesh). It is not literally true as told in the bible. The bible as a whole is a book of morals, not stories to be believed in literally.

So I have a theory related to this. It's indisputable fact that prior to the flood humans lived much longer than they do now (900+ years was common), but after the flood our lifespans dropped sharply to what the currently are. I think this can be explained by their diet, and more importantly what we had to eat back then that no longer exists today.

It's possible (likely IMO) that part of what we would call a traditional human diet included dinosaur meat along with fruits and vegetables that no longer exist due to the flood. As a result there is some key nutrient(s) lacking in our modern diet that prevents us from living nearly as old.

This is the absolute reality of the Bible.

The fact that it can serve as a historical reference in many instances is a great bonus.

But it's objective is not to be a forensic document.

Dinosaurs aren't in the bible? Really?

What do we call behemoths these days?

Job 40:15-24New International Version (NIV)

15 “Look at Behemoth,
which I made along with you
and which feeds on grass like an ox.
16 What strength it has in its loins,
what power in the muscles of its belly!
17 Its tail sways like a cedar;
the sinews of its thighs are close-knit.
18 Its bones are tubes of bronze,
its limbs like rods of iron.
19 It ranks first among the works of God,
yet its Maker can approach it with his sword.
20 The hills bring it their produce,
and all the wild animals play nearby.
21 Under the lotus plants it lies,
hidden among the reeds in the marsh.
22 The lotuses conceal it in their shadow;
the poplars by the stream surround it.
23 A raging river does not alarm it;
it is secure, though the Jordan should surge against its mouth.
24 Can anyone capture it by the eyes,
or trap it and pierce its nose?
