DoorDash in Atlanta is dying. Demand is maybe half of what it used to be. I did it on the side when there was a surge. Not anymore.

How I make 20k a year on one in Bogalusa is beyond me. Ours are usually work crews and they end up saving money.

We use VRBO bc of less fees. Can't remember the last time we used AirBNB.

I'm back to hotels for vacations - I'd rather the predictable experience BUT I'll still look for an AirBNB when it's a smallish area and the only thing available is Super 8 level.

Yep. I saw a beach condo I liked on AirBNB got the price, went to VRBO, found the exact condo on the exact dates for over $200 cheaper. Booked that one immediately. Still getting emails from AirBNB asking if I'm still interested in the property

I haven’t stayed in one in years.
We rent two furnished houses out on Furnished Finder. No fees. Huge traveling nurse market. Most of our tenants are that and people building or remodeling.
We have a loose 30-day min so different market.
With no fees at all, it’s sorta like vrbo used to be before Expedia bought it and tried to copy Airbnb.

Staying Columbia (the country) in an apartment, for about $50/night. Sometimes it's worth it.
I know, RIP.

Airbnb was great initially. I always preferred VrBO but it was cool at first.
Now it’s infinitely better to just get a hotel unless you have a bunch of people. Even then it might be.
All the bullshite you need to deal with now, and it certainly isn’t any cheaper.

The fees are about as bad as sites like StubHub, so this all makes sense

Hotel game is quite weak in the WP. That could have some bearing.

Yeah but you make 15 of it during football season. People will pay a premium not to have to drive to Memphis. You're in a captured market b/c of lack of hotels. I know people that pay their mortgage for the year simply by getting out of their own house for 6 football weekends.

Airbnb isn't going anywhere, but there will be a lot of sell-offs as it has been oversaturated by people who should of never got into it in the first place.
This stuff always market corrects.

When it cost $10 bucks more for a delivery that is 2 miles away it’s an easy decision

I'm not saying Airbnb is gonna go tits up, but I feel like the vast majority of the public doesn't realize that all of these new "gig" economy services that have sprouted up over the last 10 or so years were HEAVILY subsidized by VC and dirt cheap debt.
Uber, AirBNB, DoorDash, instacart etc etc. Remember how in the beginning everyone was like "holy shite this is a similar, if not better experience than the status quo AND IT'S CHEAPER TOO"
It was cheaper because all of the companies running these apps/services were burning hundreds of millions/billions per year propping up their product attempting to build a moat in an emerging sector.
Well that cheap credit and loose VC dollars dried up and now those companies went from blackbox private ventures to publicly traded companies that have to air out all their shite publicly for everyone to see. The VC guys cashed out and now the "public" wants return on their investment. No more subsidizing your "contractors" or customers.

AirBNB is just like some of the other disruption models. Eventually it just recreates the status quo. Like subscription models in sum costing as much as cable. Or delivery services costing more than ordering directly from the restaurant.
