One of my good friends did duty there.The best person you are likely to meet.
He helps my old uncle out a lot,when I don't really have the time,and he's not even related.
Fixes goat pens,barn roofs,does projects,etc..
He's also a very bad MFer,he fits right in with my circle.His wife is cool crazy too,and funny as hell.

Perhaps not hijacking planes and murdering thousands of American civilians would be a good place to start in preventing this type of behavior.

Not that disturbing BTW... videos showing children under the age of 10 being forced to murder their parents (see Rwanda, Syria, Congo) are far more disturbing. but no Americans were involved in these videos so I understand why the silence.

Grainer had a history before Abu Ghraib. He had 3 protection orders placed against him for beating his first wife and some pretty serious accusations made against him while he was a prison guard in Pennsylvania. I don't know how this guy even got accepted into the military based on his past.

Lax recruiting standards played no part in this. This happened early in the war before anyone who would’ve entered the military due to lowered standards would’ve have been deployed overseas. The unit that was guarding the prisoners was a slutty army reserve unit with zero leadership from the top down. It’s sad that a private paid the highest cost for what went down there. Her NCO’s and officers were the ones that deserved to be in the brig. Total failure of leadership.
