This is actually a good thing for those who want to move past this phase in our history where “gender identity” has become the focus of so many people’s lives. We have reached the point where “gender” no longer means anything and will be discarded as a topic of discussion because there is no meaning to it. Once you dilute the idea of a gender identity so much that there are 72 of them with most having nothing to do with actual gender, then this movement has jumped the shark.

This is roughly where I am, just coming from a different angle. A decade or two ago, my friends on the left were saying that gender was a social construct separate and apart from sex. That it existed on a continuum, not a binary. I had no issue with that. Then I woke up one day to my friends on the left tacitly saying that not only is gender a binary (when someone wants it to be), but only gender matters now, not sex. Watching the conversation go Ouroborus has been a bit surreal.

Trends like goth and vamp or any narcissistic need to stand out and be seen as different have been turned into permanent political identities using psychology, hormone therapy, mutilation, and social & media enforcement.
The whole “they” crap was supposed to be a temporary placeholder until a gender neutral singular 3rd person pronoun (besides “it” which is offensive to alphabets) could be decided on. Getting 50 to 72 choices and picking one was problematic for the identity approach, but it should have never up to them. Even before this crap a gender neutral singular 3rd party pronoun used where sex/gender of 3rd party individual is unknown to the writer or speaker should have been developed by all instead of using “him or her”, “she or he”, and so on which is what proper grammar demands. (Besides for known plural situations versions of “They” can be used when quantity is unknown or ambiguous)
The alphabets were given a chance to push one through but instead went with the narcissistic approach after seeing using ther plural “they” for only alphabet individuals got them the attention and victimhood desired due to going against accepted grammar rules. The alphabets don’t want a rational or reasonable solution. They want attention and to be treated differently than everyone else.
