They're gonna need a bigger truck, but it will give it that natural douche squat they are looking for.

First, payload is a crock of shite. It's a tax thing for classifying a truck. It's not like the engineers said "Oh we only make these components to handle exactly 7000lbs" Many brands just up the GVWR so they get more payload. It's just a number to go by. GMC offers a +800lb GVWR to compensate for a diesel but doesn't change the suspension. Why is that?

Second, the offroad style vehicles have a soft suspension for fast baja style off-roading. They aren't really meant for towing.

New Tundra TRD has higher payload than the RAPTOR! Why is no one talking about this? Terrible take & these so-called auto journalists suck.

They’re not for use as trucks. They’re more like cars shaped like trucks.

Ever seen a Tundra pulling a big boat over a bay on the coast? The bed/frame twists around like crazy.

Why do you hate them?

They just seem cheaply made to me. I can't speak on the new generation obviously just my experience with friends and family buying the older models. The safety ratings for the last generation were horrible. I have an uncle that has a TRD PRO and a 1794 (I think that is what they call them) The 1794 isn't anything special and doesn't have any more options than the last XLT F-150 I owned. There is no comparison from the 1794 to my F-150 Platinum as far as fit, finish, and comfort. Different strokes for different folks.

But it’s a practice that, in this case, can make the Tundra’s specs confusing to those who aren’t familiar with pickups. There’s a difference between trucks that can tow and haul, and those that are considered performance trucks. The Tundra TRD Pro is very much in the performance camp.

Here ya go, Rick.

I am. The interior seems cheap in them similar to the Titan. I have never really counted them as an option when purchasing a truck mostly considering the safety rating.

You should probably read more. Toyota’s are the best built suv & trucks on the planet.

most people don't max out payload

100pct this. I think its dumb to compare max payload or trailer towing. (a) nobody maxes it out; (b) most folks drive 1500 or mid-size trucks. If you want something that can tow like an ox, get a 2500/3500 and not only are the nominal weights much higher, but the truck is set up for said work as a primary task. If you tow regularly or near capacity in a 1500, you're doing it wrong.

If payload is important to you, better make sure you look at the yellow door sticker. Even F250 / 2500 series trucks can have a very low payload depending on how equipped. I just traded a 2018 F-250 for a 1 ton because of extremely low payload numbers. Yellow door sticker said 2095 lbs. After weighing the truck the real number was 1890 lbs and that is before any passengers which are included in payload.
