Breaking news: Breathing anything other than air into your lungs is bad

It just means that it's mixed with something else.
They should have said "THC Edibles" instead of saying a THC product is THC-laced when it's already know to be in there.

Did you choose to be a cop? If you’d been shot in line of duty due to that choice, should you not get treatment?

I have a cousin that is a longtime frequent marijuana smoker, she has server COPD.
Not surprised ,breathing any kind of smoke over time will cause lung disease

I'd 100% say legalize it all as long as not one cent of taxpayers money goes to treatment or rehabilitation. Your body; your responsibility.
Without the enforcement/incarceration costs, there is plenty of money to pay for treatment for those that want it.

That's completely equivalent

THC is harmless, only has good effects

Whether marijuana smoke would impact the human vascular system, however, was unknown.
Trust the science? Right?

We are gonna need a pretty long list of choices people should and shouldn’t suffer the consequences of making.

People are going to get very defensive about this.
Well let me know when they actually link THC to heart disease in humans.

Study puts it just at the association stage for both smoking & eating edibles with THC. In one part they mention inflammation of a “layer of endothelial cells lines all of the body’s blood vessels” which effects release of nitric oxide to dilate for increased blood flow.
It’s not the first study to find a link with consistent use of marijuana and heart and vascular issues according to article.
quote:
“We found that vascular function was reduced by 42% in marijuana smokers and by 56% in THC-edible users compared to nonusers,” lead study author Dr. Leila Mohammadi, an assistant researcher in cardiology at the University of California, San Francisco, said in an email.
The research only shows an association, Springer said. “We can only state that the cannabis users have poor vascular function, not that cannabis use causes poor vascular function,” he said via email.

Prior studies have found strong links between marijuana use and later cardiovascular disease. A February 2024 study found smoking, vaping or eating marijuana led to a significantly higher risk of heart attack and stroke, even if a person had no existing heart conditions and did not smoke or vape tobacco.
Stroke risk rose 42% and the risk of heart attack rose 25% if cannabis was used daily, and risk climbed as the number of days of use of marijuana rose, the study found.
… Using marijuana every day can raise a person’s risk of coronary artery disease by one-third compared with those who never partake, a February 2023 study found.

Ah I see what you mean. I guess I was thinking that it read "THC laced gummies." But yeah, "edible" implies that there is THC in it already, like you said.

Marijuana reminds me a lot of the covid shot how the government said it was safe and once millions of people used it only now we know how deadly it is
It seems like everyone who uses marijuana is also vaxed
Proud pureblood (both kinds) checking in

THC has been long known to raise blood pressure and heart rate. Anyone with two brain cells should know automatically that high blood pressure is a leading contributor to heart disease.
THC products are much stronger milligram for milligram now compared to 20 years ago and it’s not even close. In states where it’s legal, you’ll be super lucky to even find any THC products that have CBD in them because almost all of them are at least 90% THC.

I'll take a chance and say that filling the lungs with something other than a proper oxygen mix is going to have it's side effects.
Sure. But there's going to be variance of how strong the side effect is (or even what kind of side effects).
And if you're running sound research, you should be accounting for the variables because it affects the validity and reliability of the research. It needs to be retestable to duplicate result. The other variable I don't see accounted for is what they're considering "healthy"? Are they accounting for potential genetic occurrences that can contribute to potential underlying heart disease? With a small sample size are these potentially people from the same area with the same environmental exposures. And so on.
