That time Bennett’s ski school flooded memorial stadium in the early 70’s

You can seen the boat trailer in the lower left and the ski ramp on the field.

A dam was constructed on the south end of the playing field out of pilings, marine plywood and polyetheline. The water held for all 4 of the shows over a three day period and was drained out slowly through storm drains on the last night. The grass in the stadium wasn’t damaged and officials said it was greener than ever before.

Monroe doesn't have to flood a stadium. It has beautiful Bayou Desiard.

I have never heard this story, and I spent a lot of time at Bennett's while growing up...my dad drove boats for them as a side gig. I'll have to ask him about it.

When I was a kid we would waterski behind a 3 wheeler in our front ditch when the water was high.

I skied with SLU’s club at Bennett’s back in the 80’s...

Didn’t know anything about that, what an awesome story...
