For about 5 years a friends mom has been telling everyone how she is going to get "8 figures" from an injury/wrongful termination lawsuit against Cracker Barrel. Today my friend and his wife had a birthday party for their daughter. My friend recently got a Porshe Macan (ugliest car ever!). A few of us where checking it out when friends mom goes on about how she is going to get a Land Rover when she gets her money and how they should have gotten a Land Rover. Everyone just kind of smiled and agreed with her knowing full well she is never getting any money.

Any of y'all know people like this? Did anyone finally call them out on it?

Yes and I try to tell them all of the time to get the Porsche, not the Range Rover.

It’s amazing that when faced with A. Go back to work for $70k a year or B. not work for 2 years with a realistic possibility of getting $100k before expenses, they choose option B.

I've never had experience with someone waiting on a settlement that will never come, but I have known two separate people who had legitimate cases against their employers. Both could no longer work, but only one had a clear cut case. That didn't matter, and the company drug the case out for the better part of five years.
It is one thing to go on and on about a settlement with little merit that is probably never coming, but to be in a position where your life has changed with a company that is doing everything it can to keep from paying is a pain in the arse.
