I loved the format of his shows - at times, I thought he was great but there comes a time when I simply cannot feel sorry for a rich celebrity who commits suicide - who gets to travel the world, eat at amazing restaurants, nevr worry about money, etc.

Cry me a river you fricking pussy. You sure as hell kept making cooking shows and doing things to stay in the spotlight. You were a weak, frail, insecure pussy who took his own life in the ultimate act of selfishness. Good riddance.

Oh and that’s why your girlfriend cheated on you, loser.

he's dead, dude, he can't hear you.

Am I missing something about why some of you are so angry at Bourdain? The vitriolic responses have been really, really bizarre.

Agree. While I could never see a reason to kill myself, you have to feel for him in his final days. And to reach out to a woman with some heartfelt commentary and get that crap back had to sting.

I am not a deep thinker or would I communicate like that, but I dont see the need for the hate. We have all come across a bitch or two or three in our lives.

Maybe he hated the long arse flights, the terrible food he had to suffer through, and the bum friends and relatives always begging for money. IDK. I think suicide is a human right.

His generation- really all men including generation x were completely blue pilled. Only the manosphere has shed light on gender realities. He did what thousands of men his age do- he killed himself because he couldn’t accept reality. In his case, the reality of female nature. Had someone gave him a copy of The Rational Male and forced him to read it he’d still be alive. Guys like this were virtually programmed to kill themselves over a woman. That’s what he thought his worth was . Asia’s man. Asia found a better deal and took it. As a woman like her would do 99% of the time. Young guys get this shite but his generation was utterly clueless. Dudes his age whack themselves over low character women every day.

when you're severely depressed to the brink of suicide, you have no energy to do anything, let alone travel the world and interact with people. he most likely went from wanting to spend all day in bed to being forced to fly to paris and eat/drink for a week. it's almost like a formula for suicide.

Anthony Bourdain was one of the most overrated public figures

It wasn't him, it was his show. People love travel and people love food. His shows gave us both.

if this isn't satire, I'm disappointed. I thought you were smarter than this "macho your way out of crippling depression" take.

he probably didn't kill himself over a girl. the girl was just the person he was trying to reach out to for help in a moment where he was ready to end it all. she, not knowing he's on the brink of suicide, directly tells him what she wants. he takes this as "I am completely alone in my despair" even though he probably isn't, because in his suicidal mind, he believes she is the only one who can help him.

suicide isn't beta or liberal or whatever nonsense is being spewed all over this thread by those fortunate enough to not ever experience reoccurring major depression. in a way, I envy all of you.

Seems to me that it would be the opposite

Doesn't seem like the best course of action would be to vegetate in your depression and wallow alone in self pity. Would make sense to force yourself out and perhaps come across a life altering experience

I think in his case however, there was just not much that could be done or perhaps it was that the thing that could possibly save his life in the end was his job rather than having the experiences on his own terms

Sounds like she was the man of the relationship. Unfortunate that he couldn't see how lucky he was in life and only focused on the negatives.

Hard to feel sorry for him. Depression is a motherfricker but he had the resources to seek help for it unlike many others. Instead he wallowed in self pity and took the cowards way out.

There is a lot to be said for reaping what you sow. The guy made a living off of vitriol and hate for other people. That dude was absolutely scathingly hateful to people like Guy Fieri and Rachael Ray because he thought he was better than them and they didn't deserve to have as much or more success than he had.
