Question from a non hunter: A restaurant I frequent serves wild boar steaks that eat more like beef than pork and are absolutely delicious. What are these from?

I thought I had heard it was from wild boar less than 50 lbs. or so, is that correct?

And for the record, anyone against the killing of these animals is an anti science moron and probably the same type of idiot who is against killing the pythons destroying the native species in the Everglades

Got them around us in the woods here in ETX but I only see them dead on the road once in a while. They are evil crafty animals. But I have the lever action 30/30 ready in the corner in case they do show up.

A Texas woman was found dead after pre-dawn attack by a group of feral hogs outside a home, the Chambers County sheriff said.

One of my best friends lives near Orange, which isn't all that far from Anahuac.

Lately he's been seeing hogs all over his neighborhood and even in his front yard. He's been hesitant to shoot any of them but I'd say he would be justified.

I had a pack of them SOB's try to attack me one morning duck hunting. They came within 5' of me till I had to open fire on them. Hell, I tried to yell at them to scare them off. They would just come back at me.

Hell, they always tasted better to me.

But, yeah. The shoats are money.

Butchering them is a chore however.

How do you get rid of the rest of the carcass?

No witness to the attack. Maybe she dropped dead of a heart attack, and hogs munched on her later.

In Rising Tide, there are several mentions of hogs eating human bodies that had washed up on the levees and high ground during the 1927 flood.

Piglets and shoats have very little gameyness almost indistinguishable from domestic pig. Even mature sows are pretty close. It's the boars that have a really strong "WTF" is this flavor to them.

Sounds like you are a fan of swine, sir.

Cut out the backstrap, leave the rest for the coyotes.

Correct. Anahuac is much more rural. Makes Orange look like Dallas. This is the top story down here. The Sheriff said its the worst thing he has seen in 30 plus years as an LEO. When they reported the story they had an image of the coroner stretcher with this poor woman on it. They blurred a stillshot image of a draped body on a stretcher. It must have been bad.

As years go by these hogs are more and more used to people and encroaching on people as we encroach on land. I've seen them yards from a major highway, they destroy flowers and gardens in the yards of suburban homes.

I call BS.

She probably fell or something else happened and then the hogs came in

Feral hogs have a rep for attacking people for some reason. No one has ever been attacked by a feral hog and been hurt.

All the stories are of people telling stories that other people told them.

A hog that jumps at you is not attacking. A hog in a pin charging the walls is not attacking you.

I've seen many hogs in the swamp and not one has ever run at me to get me. Same as for all my friends that hunt them.

That looks like something from a Trapper Keeper circa 1995.

You are a liar. I have never hunted in my life, but KNOW that all of my friends carry a side arm specifically for the purpose of fending off a hog when they are on the ground. There are 1000's of documented cases dude. Even in this case the paper said that human attacks are getting less rare.
