I always sit at the bar where I go. I am wondering if they will even have the bar part open.

n. texas has yet to see a real decline in new cases. they are still well in the meat of the curve:

this is all about hospitals being overwhelmed

this "meat" of the curve isn't pushing texas hospitals to capacity, if you are at the top of your "curve" and still have like 50% or more capacity at your hospitals you open shite up

this whole thing wasn't about cases; but strictly health care system capacity in regards to caring for critical cases

baw I ain't driving 35 minutes to drink margaritas. I got plenty of liquor and mixers at the house.

I have legitimately thought about opening up the house as a private speakeasy. I just want to socialize again.

the expense of being called a liberal cuck or something, it is still probably about 2 weeks too soon to fully open. texas has yet to see a real decline in new cases. they are still well in the meat of the curve:

Our hospital capacity is still extremely good. This was about not overwhelming the healthcare system. As long as we can continue this trend we should reopen.

65+ age group makes up approx 20% of Texas population but 75% of severe cases/death. That population will continue to stay home and all others will start the reopen.

Restaurants, movie theaters, churches, and retail shops. 25% occupancy through May 18. With success, it goes up to 50% after that.

No bars, barbers, salons, or bars at this time.

Smaller counties with fewer than 5 cases can open these shops at 50% occupancy instead of 25%.

This order will supercede local orders as I understand it.

This all sounds reasonable as hell. Reddit is already melting about the fire and brimstone of wave 2, but I don't think it will happen as badly as they think.

Sounds like a good plan

This is a stupid condition. No matter when things reopen, or how limited it is, it WILL result in a "spike" of new cases.

restaurants ... can open at 25% capacity

So instead of sitting at a table, everyone will be packed in the waiting area together while they serve 10 of the 40 tables.

Seems those seats would be available at a 25% capacity to ensure distancing.

Lockdowns are to prevent healthcare facilities from being overwhelmed, not to reduce cases to zero. The "two weeks too soon" crowd isn't going to change their tune in two weeks. There will be more fear porn to move those goalposts further back.

Sounds reasonable, but I still think a normal chill bar is probably safer than being at a restaurant.

I just want to be able to go back to my neighborhood bar and see the big tittied bartender and my friends.

I would assume they have a baseline for what a dangerous spike would be. They've be using UT models for their data and decisions and I'm sure this decision was no different.

They’ll tell people to wait in their cars, or spread out outside

He addressed that there will be a rise in cases due to more testing, etc. They’ll be looking at death rate and hospitalization rate, which was the whole reason for this. If the hospitals are not overwhelmed and we’re not having a huge spike in deaths, we’ll continue into phase 2

What’s the differentiation on bar vs restaurant, how much revenue they do on alcohol vs food, or just if they serve food? Most places I would consider bars in Houston serve food so not sure how they’re qualifying it.
