Well lower pay definitely doesn't. Higher pay generally means better quality.

quote:Private schools don’t have SPED kids, do they? That’s what kills the average in public schools. There are teachers hired for a handfull of students and aids that are child specific. Not uncommon to have one teacher and two aides in a class with 4 or 5 kids.
in most states, the average annual private school tuition is actually less than the average amount spent per child in a U.S. public school.
The average amount that a public elementary or secondary school in the United States spends per student is $11,392 as of June 2017, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The national average for annual private school tuition is approximately $10,413, according to Private School Review.
Someone correct me if I’m off here.

I think it’s more like 10.5 months they work. It’s also not really an 8-5 job. Please you get to deal with a large contingent of shitty kids every single day
Bull. shite. They work 180 days with kids. It’s not 8-5 because it’s 7:15 to 3. Been around enough to know 95% of them are bouncing when that bell rings. Sell your lies elsewhere.
ETA: Hell they get a month off just from Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break. Are you saying they get 2 weeks off for Summer?

How much is the coaching supplement?
Posted on 5/29/19 at 3:01 pm to TDcline
Good for them!
Teachers work harder than any of you MFers here. You couldn’t pay me to sit in a school for 8 hours with all those little bastards.

Typically depends on district. Not enough though. S&C coaches especially work 12 months a year.

I was speaking to his claim they work 10.5 months a year. That’s impossible when you get a month just for 3 holidays/not including Summer.

Most teachers will be obsolete in the near future when kids will attend online middle and high schools.
Their jobs certainly aren't safe from technology.

Should be merit based period.
You get the kids the grades, you get paid.
You suck, you should get your arse fired.

We can start at the premiere cancer treatment facility, MD Anderson. If their patients die, the Doctors suck and get fired. Oh, wait, half their patients die.

So nicer books, desks, materials are more important than quality teachers who (now) have a financial incentive to see their students thrive? You're telling me that you cannot understand that someone will work harder if they have a financial incentive to do so? Put down the Karl Marx and think about your next reply carefully.

It's because they are easy professions to get into. There's a shortage of good public service professionals because they are lumped in with shite and there are no incentives to do better than that.
While true, I would argue that if you start paying a respectable salary with actual opportunities for pay raises; you would see more qualified applicants.
