The shooting probably never happens if the idiots with their cell phones out help the cop control and cuff the guy instead of standing there filming.

Not sure I would want to approach a situation where I might be shot if the cop assumed I was coming to assist the suspect or if shots were fired and I could be accidentally hit by a stray bullet.

Personally, I would have moved along well before that happened.

Exactly! I was thinking the same thing. They just stand there with their phones like zombies rather than help.

If a man was on fire and these idiots had a bucket of water and a cell phone, they would put down the bucket and start recording a man burn to death.

Do yall think a taser would have been effective in this situation?

I mean that is great that you don't care.

I was just wondering if a taser would have subdued the man at the beginning of the scuffle before it even would have escalated to someone getting shot.

I have no problem with the shooting . The cop looked worn out and distraught that it had to come to that point. I feel sorry for the cop more than Tex.

This video from overhead(on a hotel balcony I presume) shows the scuffle before the other video. Not sure they ever untangled long enough to use anything else.

And plenty people share the sentiment I have. Fighting with a cop rarely ends well. Citizens need to understand that and not expect any consolations or non-lethal force the second they engage an officer in what he/she perceives as a life or death struggle.
Point Blank Period as the Biscuit would say.

Advocate video from hotel balcony.

These idiots with the cameras could have put them down and helped, and no shots would have been fired.

it's a sad day when people just sit around and record stuff on their phones instead of trying to break up the fight.

It's hard to see what the guy is doing once they separate.

Texas dude swept the police officer and was about to unleash a can on his arse from top position. Officers should definitely have better hand to hand combat than what that dude was displaying.

It looked like a couple of them went talk to either the guy being detained or the cop, during the struggle.

Sure, but if the guy is touching the officer, won't it tase him too? Plus, in that split second, the cop doesn't know what the guy has grabbed: flashlight, rock, beer bottle, etc.

I'm pro what's right, not pro/anti cop, but if you fight with the police on the side of the road, bad stuff's going to happen. Shut up, lawyer up, and tell it to the judge.

Obviously, you can't tell what was said, but it appears that the first guy did go up to the officer and say something. Perhaps he was offering to help. I can see how the officer would decline such help, though.
