Cool thing about El Paso is the days of sunshine it gets per year and little to no rain. That’s a huge plus

After a year or two in Atlanta, I would have agreed with you. There was no immediate benefit, other than not having to deal with mandatory hurricane vacations.
In the 3 or 4 years since, though, my salary has increased by almost 50%. Job title is two notches higher on the totem pole. Those opportunities just weren't there in LA. My field in NOLA consisted of the same dozen people giving each other awards over and over again, and they didn't need a thirteenth.
I am sure my field is not the only one where this is true.

I wouldn't want to live in El Paso but it snows there too. Something I never really knew until recently.

I work in the local school district. Have you seen the facilities in Northside or NEISD in SA? United ISD in Laredo? Katy ISD? Leander? Frisco?
Do you know what kind of money flows into these places?
Frisco has built 9 high schools and 64 campuses overall since the year 2000. When it comes to schools, money often equates to success.
Maybe St. Tammany has awesome schools. That’s 1. You can find excellent public schools near any major city in Texas.

It probably depends on the field. Obviously Louisiana is a relatively small state so it's not a great market for some fields. I make over the national average for my position and years of experience in lowly Baton Rouge.

Every Fortune 500 company and their employees are wrong for not recognizing the greatness of Louisiana from the business standpoint. Corporations flocking to Texas must have not received the memo.

Facilities mean very little me. Test scores, college matriculation, and demographics are what matter... and I doubt you see a huge difference
And yeah there are more good school systems in/near major cities in Texas, but those cities have metro areas with higher population than Louisiana

I would Paul. My wife would probably require a compromise though.
It has been nice raising my kid around my family though. She got to know some of her great grandparents for a number of years. The last one died when she was 12.

Demographics matter? Busing ended a long time ago chief.
So when someone tells you Louisiana’s education system is 49th, you don’t trust that?
Facilities = money. Money into schools means more success. It’s an easy concept to understand.

Louisiana's largest two cities have huge private school populations and almost half of the state's population live in those 2 metros. If we include Lafayette too it's well over half.

I am sure my field is not the only one where this is true.
It’s undoubtedly better for some career paths. It just doesn’t affect my family. I live in Lafayette, but my company is based out of Nashville, my income would be unchanged regardless where I live. My wife is a healthcare provider, she makes similar money to her friends who live in Texas.
