I find it quite interesting every time I read a story about one of those snake church baws getting bitten. It's truly a learning experience that most of them ignore. A few have died over the years and they still DGAF.

I say this as a Christian... This shouldn't be political. Decisions should be based on science b/c lives depend on it. Science can be flawed, but it's more accurate at proving things than any religion.

It's a necessary evil. Without the Catholic Church giving some veneer to an Europe's kings occasionally joining cause, we'd be overrun by Islam. Of course Islam has some shared traditional roots but that eventually leads to a goldennugget type discussion.
Of course we also have people on this board that admit they'd rape and murder if it wasn't for a god waiting to punish them at some point. So there's that as well.
So it balances in the grand scheme of things.

The Church of Christ pastor quoted in the OP has the correct approach.
Government shouldn't limit/prohibit the freedom to worship. That should be on the church and their followers, themselves. And if the public wants to mock them. They have the constitutional right to do so as well.

This is the same argument anti-vaxxers use. It doesn't just affect the church and it's parishioners. It affects everyone because they are part of broader society.
Additionally the Christian religion does not have a privileged position from a legal standpoint. Would you support mosques that were continuing to meet? Satanists? Acolytes of the flying spaghetti monster? Do you see how if we did it this way anyone could justify any behavior under the banner of religious freedom? That is why it is not an absolute right.

We can go pretty far if we really want to protect the greater good and prevent anything harmful from happening to people. We can start by lowering all speed limits to 10 mph or just banning vehicles. You don't have an absolute right to drive, especially on public roads.

I don't think anyone is advocating for these places/churches to currently operate. They're just against the government forcing them to close.
There's a difference and an important one if we still believe in how this country was intended to operate.

Hell yeah, because you're more likely to get sick from going to church once a week and sitting six feet apart than going to work at a boat factory every day and touching all the same shite.
Or a gas station, or a liquor store.
