Texas doing stuff -- design-build contract awarded for Dallas commuter rail

Since CATS is a common topic of discussion here and most people are against a BR-NO rail, there is a way to do transit correctly, and over the past 10 years both Dallas and Houston have made great strides in providing public transit and using transit to link major job centers.
Building highways and rail are not mutually exclusive options, something we need to learn in Louisiana.

Pretty awesome that you can travel from Ft. Worth to the Dallas suburbs without being in a car. Sure, it may take 3 hours, but it is still cool.

Great there will be an E/W line there.
We'll see if it helps traffic. The N/S DART line hasn't helped 75 much. Texans love their jacked F250s and sitting in standstill city traffic in them.

Might be true south of I-30 but I see more Audi's, BMW, Benz, and Lexus in North Dal
I see there is already a line from Denton to FW. This would be very interesting to check out.

Are you joking? Have you ever rode the red, orange or blue lines into downtown on M-F morning? Those trains are packed to the brim with people standing everywhere. 75 would be much worse with all those people on the road.

And a line from downtown Dallas to downtown Fort Worth.
We take the one to fort worth sometimes for a day trip to the museums and some beers before coming back to dallas. I have looked at taking the one to denton when I have meetings up there but it would take twice as long on the train vs. driving from where I am in East Dallas.
